Patent number: 11123827Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for remotely switching screw color or screw type feeding into a door assembly machine with an auto-hinge applicator. An apparatus having a turntable is supported on bearings and a framework. Each side of the turntable includes a screw hopper accessible via a rotary index. The screw hoppers receive a user input to make a screw selection. Upon receiving a selection, one of the hoppers indexes into position, allowing the correct screw to feed to the hinge applicator. Screw feed-hoses from screwdrivers on the hinge applicator are arranged to connect to a manifold below the screw hoppers. Screws drop from the hoppers into a manifold, at which point the screws are blown with compressed air through the feed-hoses to the screwdrivers on the hinge applicator. Screws can be reloaded into the screw hoppers when rotated in alignment with the hinge side of the door assembly machine.Type: GrantFiled: September 16, 2017Date of Patent: September 21, 2021Assignee: Kval, Inc.Inventors: Gerald Kvalheim, Scott Bacon, David Schneider

Patent number: 7100258Abstract: The invention concerns a method and a device (10) for closing wedge simulation to set gap dimensions between a movable flap (5; 5a, 5b) of a vehicle and the surrounding body (1) of the vehicle. The flap (5; 5a, 5b) is initially fitted and held in a roughly adjusted installation position in alignment with the body (1). The flap (5; 5a, 5b) is then finely adjusted such that predeterminable gap dimensions can be met with optimum precision. Finally, the flap (5; 5a, 5b) is movably fixed in the finely adjusted installation position on the body (1). To simplify the closing wedge simulation without losing accuracy for fine adjustment of the flap (5; 5a, 5b), the invention proposes to suction the flap (5; 5a, 5b) against a mechanical stop (15) for fine adjustment using a pneumatic suctioning device (16), wherein the mechanical stop (15) is fixed relative to the surrounding body (1) and is freely pivotable about a substantially vertical axis of rotation (13).Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 2003Date of Patent: September 5, 2006Assignee: inos Automationssoftware GmbHInventors: Charalambos Tassakos, Jan-Thomas Metge

Patent number: 6663123Abstract: The panel mover is designed for receiving, holding and moving a panel and comprises: first and second elongate arms each having an upper end and a lower end and each having a length of between approximately 2 feet and approximately 4 feet; panel support structure connected between the arms; a wheel mounted to each arm on a wheel shaft extending from an outer side of each arm at the lower end of each arm; and, inwardly facing engaging structure only at the upper end of each arm for engaging the side surface of a panel positioned between the anns, whereby, when, an elongate edge of a panel is placed on the panel support stricture, the weight of the panel will cause each elongate arm to rotate upwardly around one of the wheel shafts and pivot inwardly toward the panel to a panel engaging position where the engaging structure at the upper end of each arm engages the panel.Type: GrantFiled: April 22, 2002Date of Patent: December 16, 2003Inventor: Stafford T. Publication number: 20030190219Abstract: The invention comprises a door attaching apparatus for positioning and aligning a door for attachment to a doorway. The apparatus has a mobile frame adapted to be moved upon a surface. The mobile frame has a first frame. The first frame is movably mounted to the mobile frame to move upward and downward and forward and rearward relative to the mobile frame with a door mounted thereon. A second frame is pivotably mounted to the mobile frame behind the first frame and is handle operated to move forward and rearward on the mobile frame and to engage the first frame to cause the first frame and door thereon to move forward and rearward with the second frame to align the door in a doorway in one direction for attachment of the door to the doorways. A handle operated cam mechanism is mounted between the first and second frames to cam the first frame and thereby the door upward and downward on the mobile frame align the door in another direction for its attachment to the doorway .Type: ApplicationFiled: April 4, 2002Publication date: October 9, 2003Inventor: Roland O. Patent number: 6579051Abstract: A carriage for the transport and installation of heavy doors and other construction panels includes a door-holding frame that is pivotally attached to a wheeled chassis. Independent drive mechanisms provide accurate control over the elevation, tilt, and roll of a door panel held by the frame, and effect a precisely controlled, lateral movement of the panel relative to the frame.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 2001Date of Patent: June 17, 2003Inventor: James E. Publication number: 20030002957Abstract: A door dolly (11) has a side leg (17) rigidly attached to a bottom leg (15) and a wheel and axle assembly (21) attached to the side leg (17) near the bottom leg (15). A handle (19) attaches to the side leg (17) distal to the bottom leg (15). The handle (19) is configured to act as a support for the side leg (17) when the dolly (11) is positioned with the side leg (17) substantially level with the floor, so that the dolly (11) can also act as a stand for holding a door (13) placed on the dolly (11).Type: ApplicationFiled: July 2, 2001Publication date: January 2, 2003Inventor: Ricky D. Patent number: 6497399Abstract: A simple, compact, hands free device that allows a single operator to vertically lift and hold construction panels to a desired height for securing to a wall surface. Downward foot pressure on one end of a slotted lever arm causes a panel lifting surface on the other end of the lever arm to rise. This lever arm is supported by a base support which also supports a locking arm. Once the desired height is reached, the device locks the panel into position. The operator is then free to move about, adjust, and finally secure the panel. Once the panel is secured, the locking arm is released by simple forward pressure. With the aid of a foot strap, the device can then be transported to the next panel ready for lifting. This device eliminates the use of hands, bending, or stooping during the process of lifting construction panels.Type: GrantFiled: May 28, 2002Date of Patent: December 24, 2002Inventor: Mark S. Nelson

Patent number: 6481052Abstract: A door holding device is disclosed for wedging a door relative to a ceiling for preventing swinging or falling over of the door during painting thereof. The device includes a tubular member having a first and a second end. A biasing device having a first and a second extremity is disposed within the tubular member so that the first extremity of the biasing device abuts against the first end of the tubular member. A piston having a first and a second termination is slidably disposed within the tubular member so that the first termination of the piston abuts against the second extremity of the biasing device such that the piston is urged by the biasing device axially away from the first end of the tubular member. A door engaging fastener is rigidly secured to the first end of the tubular member such that in use of the device, the door engaging fastener is disposed between the door and the first end of the tubular member.Type: GrantFiled: September 6, 2000Date of Patent: November 19, 2002Inventor: Gregory A.
