    Abstract: A manual device, for use in a stand, provides a threaded rod with two opposed cones coaxial upon the rod. The cones have wider bases located outwardly from the center of the rod and narrow tops located inwardly. Threaded holes centered in the tops of the cones admit the rod. In use, a wheel is placed upon the rod and the cones are turned towards the wheel, points toward the wheel. As the cones engage the wheel, the angled surface of each cone guides the wheel to be centered upon the rod. For open hubs, one cone is reversed so the base contacts the wheel while the top of the other enters the wheel hub and the base. When finger tight, the cones secure the wheel to the rod without marring for spinning and balancing on an axis coaxial with the rod.

    Abstract: Aspects of the invention relate to a fixture and a method to assist in the alignment of the inlet end of a transition duct and a combustor component in a turbine engine. The fixture includes a plurality of pressure transducers spaced on a mandrel so as to correspond to the target alignment location of the transition. The plurality of pressure transducers produce signals, which can be converted by a signal processor into an actual alignment location signal. A display can be provided for presenting graphical images of the target alignment location and the actual alignment location responsive to the actual alignment location signal received from the signal processor. Thus, a user can view the movement of the graphical image of the actual alignment location relative to the graphical image of the target alignment location such that the user can adjust the transition's position until the graphical images are substantially aligned.

    Abstract: A wing positioner apparatus for installing and removing an aircraft wing includes a wheeled base having a pair of vertically extending telescoping posts attached thereto. A wing support arm is hinged to each vertically extending telescoping post. A winch couples one wing support arm to one of the vertically extending posts for raising and lowering the wing support arm. A telescoping post winch is attached to the wheeled base for raising both vertically extending telescoping posts simultaneously. This allows an aircraft wing to be supported between the pair of wing support arms and the pair of vertically extending telescoping posts while being moved on the wheeled base and positioned for installation or removal from an aircraft fuselage.

    Abstract: A reinforcing ring applicator is provided to receive cartridges of reinforcer rings for applying flat, adhesive-coated annular reinforcement rings onto sheets of material about perforations which have been formed in the sheets of material. The reinforcer ring cartridge is a disposable item comprised of an annular backing member releaseably attachable to the reinforcing ring applicator. A reinforcing ring mounting post is frictionally engaged in a central aperture in the annular backing member. The reinforcer mounting post has a cylindrical, corrugated exterior surface and a lower tip formed with a plurality of separate, downwardly and radially inwardly directed, resilient deflectable fingers projecting therefrom. A plurality of flat, annular reinforcing rings are stacked one atop another and are releaseably and frictionally engaged with the mounting post by the corrugations thereof.

    Abstract: A flexible sheet used in manufacture of microelectronic components is held on a frame formed from a rigid material so that the frame maintains the sheet under tension during processing and thereby stabilizes the dimensions of the sheet. The frame may be formed from a rigid, light-transmissive material such as a glass, and the bond between the frame and sheet may be made or released by light transmitted through the frame. Preferred features of the framed sheet minimize entrapment of processing liquids such as etch solutions, thereby minimizing carryover of processing solutions between steps. The frame may have contact openings which permit engagement of a metallic layer on the sheet by an electrode carrying electroplating or etching current without disturbing the main portion of the sheet where features are to be formed or treated.

The flap (5; 5a, 5b) is then finely adjusted such that predeterminable gap dimensions can be met with optimum precision. To simplify the closing wedge simulation without losing accuracy for fine adjustment of the flap (5; 5a, 5b), the invention proposes to suction the flap (5; 5a, 5b) against a mechanical stop (15) for fine adjustment using a pneumatic suctioning device (16), wherein the mechanical stop (15) is fixed relative to the surrounding body (1) and is freely pivotable about a substantially vertical axis of rotation (13).

    Abstract: To align the edges of plates prior to joining them, a generally cylindrical anchor member is spot welded at one location on one of its rims to a plate. A mounting element of a clamp body member slidably engages the anchor member. A force applicator element of the clamp body member is generally laterally spaced from the mounting element. The mounting element includes a generally arcuately extended semi-cylindrical socket portion of such a diameter that it slidably and snugly mounts the socket portion thereon. The rim portions of the anchor member provide a plurality of spot mounting locations for breakably spot welding, brazing or otherwise temporarily attaching the anchor member to a plate or other substrate. At least one of the force applicator or mounting elements is adapted to the incremental application of aligning force on adjacent plates. The body of the clamp bridges between the respective plates that are to be brought into line with one another.

    Abstract: A support rack, such as for supporting automobile body parts during painting, may be supported entirely from overhead by a single vertical support tube received within an overhead mounting bracket. A central frame has a sidewardly projecting cross member, which supports side members which extend front to back. A front frame projects frontwardly of the cross member, and has adjustable side support arms. When a fender is supported on one of the side members by an upper edge, one of the side support arms can be adjusted to properly engage the fender. Alternatively, the rack's vertical mount tube can be supported from below on a wheeled support frame. Adjustable pin collars can be moved along the side arm to support parts which have mounting holes.
