  • Patent number: 4157176
Abstract: A slip plate located at the discharge end of an endless band transport device is provided with apertures on both sides at the end remote from the transport device and a stop located at that edge between the apertures. Alternately operating clamping devices movable at right angles to the direction of movement of the textile pieces of the slip plate convey the textile pieces by clamping at the apertures to stacking tables to the right and left of the slip plate.

  • Patent number: 4092021
Abstract: In an electrostatographic copier in which a copy member bearing an unfused and electrically disturbable image is transported on a conductive vacuum guide member and then removed from the conductive guide member, the improvement wherein a smooth conductive baffle is electrically connected and sufficiently closely spaced from said guide member to provide a low electrostatic field zone between the baffle and the guide member for the movement therebetween of the copy member, and its removal from the guide member without electrical disturbance of the image, wherein the opposing baffle and guide member have similar and opposite diverging radii of curvature in the copy removal area. Means for automatically moving the baffle in coordination with the movement of said copy member are also shown.

  • Patent number: 4088314
Abstract: A synchronous stacking device for receiving and stacking documents fed to it in a random spaced apart relationship by a delivery mechanism. Documents move from the delivery mechanism through a movable guide track having first and second positions, toward a rotating carrier for insertion into one of a plurality of equally spaced document-accepting pockets which are interspersed with document non-accepting segments. The carrier delivers the inserted documents to a stripping station when the previously inserted documents are removed and deposited on a stacking platform. Comparator means are provided for sensing the orientation of the carrier relative to a document in the delivery mechanism and moving the guide means to the second position whenever the orientation of the carrier would result in the document encountering a non-accepting segment of the carrier and would not allow the document to enter a document-accepting pocket if the guide means were to remain in the first position.

  • Patent number: 4067568
Abstract: A document feeding and stacking apparatus, which may be used in conjunction with a document delivery system, comprises a stacking station having a support platform and an edge aligning barrier projecting perpendicularly from one side of the platform. A document stack, having one side aligned with the barrier, is incrementally built on the platform by adding documents, one at a time, between the stack and platform. In order to do so, the stack is first pushed away from the platform surface and the next succeeding document to be added is then fed between the stack and platform by a planetary device which includes a rotatable spider member, at least one pusher roll mounted on the spider member for free rotation and at least one feed roll also mounted for rotation on the spider member. As the spider member is rotated, the pusher roll first projects through an opening in the support platform that is disposed adjacent to the stack.

  • Patent number: 4051957
Abstract: A system for automatically loading mail into a postal tray. A tray support mechanism holds a postal tray at a steep angle at each of two loading stations within the system. A transport system conveys articles of mail to one of the two stations where each piece of mail is ejected laterally into the tray. The tray is gradually moved downward as it is filled. When completely filled, a changeover mechanism begins to fill the tray at the other station while the filled tray is removed and replaced.

  • Patent number: 4014538
Abstract: Apparatus for separating sheets from a belt driven photosensitive surface in which a pair of rollers are disposed on opposite sides of the photosensitive surface downstream of the transfer paper feed point. One of the rollers is movable from a position spaced from the photosensitive surface to a position in which it contacts the sheet carried by the photosensitive surface and cooperates with the other roller to separate the sheet from the photosensitive surface. A sensor is provided to detect the absence of a sheet and to prevent the movable roller from contacting the photosensitive surface in the absence of a transfer sheet.
