  • Patent number: 7370861
Abstract: A detection sensor detects a position of a level detection lever that touches an uppermost sheet of sheets stacked on a holding tray, and a computing device counts the number of sheets that have been discharged to the holding tray. A judging device judges the amount of sheets stacked based on a sheet surface level detection signal from the detection sensor and a count value of the computing device. The apparatus accurately judges that the maximum amount of sheets have been stacked in the holding tray according to the position of the level detection lever and a count value for a number of sheets. Also, the apparatus selects one of a plurality of values for an offset sheet count, which corresponds to the operating conditions, namely the transporting speed of sheets, the intervals between sheets, and the length of the transport direction of the sheets.

  • Patent number: 7066462
Abstract: A stream of successive sheets of paper, foil or the like is converted into a series of piles at a stacking station where successive sheets are caused to descend onto a pallet which is adjacent a monitoring device serving to transmit signals denoting the levels of successive uppermost sheets of a growing pile. Such signals are processed by a unit which controls one or more valves in a pneumatic elevator for the discharge end of the endless flexible conveyor which supplies successive sheets to the stacking station. The elevator ensures that the distance between the discharge end of the conveyor and the uppermost sheets of the growing pile remains within a preselected range. This contributes to the accuracy of stacking of sheets on their pallet.

  • Patent number: 6988844
Abstract: A printer includes a transporting block, a printing block, a positioning block, and an intermediate picking-up device. The positioning block is disposed between the transporting block and the printing block, and positions printing sheets transported by the transporting block at a predetermined location one at a time, so that they are positioned one at a time at a printing location of the printing block where printing is performed on the printing sheets. The intermediate picking-up means picks up the printing sheets positioned at the predetermined location in the positioning block one at a time in order to transport the printing sheets to the printing block.

Abstract: An offsetting discharging apparatus with aligning member or a sheet discharge apparatus is provided with a sheet discharge device for discharging sheets, a storage device for receiving the sheets discharged from the discharge device, and an alignment reference member for aligning at least one edge of the sheets discharged to the storage means. Furthermore, the sheet discharge apparatus includes rotating bodies (belt unit) that contacts the sheets while the sheets are discharged by the discharge device to move the sheets discharged to the storage device to the alignment reference member. The rotating bodies for alignment do not hinder a discharge operation of discharge rollers of the discharge device, thereby fully utilizing a capacity of a sheet storage tray.
