Abstract: A media transport system comprising a roller system, a baffle, and at least one lead-in guide positioned to guide a sheet towards the roller system. The roller system includes a drive roller and an idler roller forming a nip, each roller being mounted on a corresponding drive shaft and an idler shaft, respectively. The lead-in guide, lying at an angle to the baffle, is coupled to at least one of the drive shaft or an idler shaft. The mounting of the lead-in guide eliminates tolerances between the lead-in guide and the nip due to baffle flatness, or baffle and shaft deflections as the lead-in guide is positioned by the drive shaft that locates the nip roller. This arrangement enables the lead-in guide to direct a leading edge of the sheet substantially close to a tangent plane of the nip and minimizes drive forces in the system.

Abstract: By effectively using a sheet feeding mechanism used for feeding a printing medium in a single transporting path for the purpose of another transporting path, a printing apparatus and a printing method that can simplify a configuration and reduce a size are provided. A first transporting path and a second transporting path are selectively used when an image is to be printed on a printing sheet. The first transporting path transports the printing sheet supplied by a sheet feeding roller from a printing sheet loading portion to a printing position. The second transporting path transports the printing sheet located at a position different from the printing sheet loading portion to the printing position. When the printing sheet is to be transported by the second transporting path, the sheet feeding roller is moved onto the second transporting path so as to transport the printing sheet in the second transporting path.

Abstract: A de-skew mechanism, in an image forming device, with a correcting member disposed in a rotatable manner to the rotary shaft and turning with driving roller by a spring between them. A torque spring suppresses the turning of the correcting member to correct the skew of the medium. When conveyed, the medium will butt against the correcting member to be stopped and corrected. The medium conveying force and the force that the spring brings to the driving roller are sufficient for turning the correcting member and passing therethrough. At one time, the force that the correcting member brings to the medium will reduce to zero. As such, the medium will not be damaged by the correcting member while being conveyed.
