Having Timer Patents (Class 271/3.16)
  • Patent number: 7689159
Abstract: A sheet transport apparatus includes a pair of rollers for transporting a sheet and a sheet detection device for detecting the sheet transported by the pair of rollers. The sheet detection device includes a flag that is displaceable when urged by the sheet transported by the pair of rollers and a single-chip acceleration sensor attached to the flag to detect the arrival of the sheet. When the sheet is brought into contact with the flag to rotate the flag, the acceleration sensor detects the roll acceleration of the flag so as to determine the timing of stopping the pair of rollers on the basis of a detection signal.

  • Publication number: 20100044948
Abstract: A timed feeder for feeding corrugated boards to nip rolls of a box finishing machine. A feed member is raised to the feed path to engage and drive a board to the nip rolls and then lowered away from the feed path until the next cycle. An indexing drive mechanism, driven by a computer-controlled servo motor, activates the feed member and has a feed phase when it drives the board to the nip rolls, and a dwell phase when the feed member is away from the feed path and the output shaft of the indexing mechanism is at zero velocity. During the feed phase, the output shaft of the indexing mechanism accelerates the feed member and the board beyond the nip roll velocity and then decelerates them to the nip roll velocity at the point where the board enters the nip rolls.

  • Publication number: 20080185770
Abstract: A print interface system including a printer integrated in combination with a sheet handling system such as a mailpiece inserter. The print interface system facilitates the handling of sheet material in various operating modes, including conventional printing, duplex printing, and mailpiece creation modes. The system includes a printer having multiple feed paths for printing on opposing face surfaces of a sheet material. One of the feed paths directs sheet material to a staging tray and another feed path directs sheet material to a downstream module of the sheet handling system. The system further includes a positionable diverter for directing sheet material to one of the feed paths and a sheet sensor for determining when a sheet of material has been directed along the feed path leading to the output tray. A controller is operative to alternately reposition the diverter from one of two positions.

  • Publication number: 20080179812
Abstract: An inkjet image forming apparatus and a method to control the same. In the apparatus, a pickup roller picks up a print sheet from a cassette containing print sheets. Drive and Feed rollers convey the print sheet. A conveyor motor rotates the feed roller. A controller controls the speed of the conveyor motor around the time when a change is made to forces in which the drive and feed rollers apply to the print sheet. The print sheet is conveyed at normal speed while it is pinched by nips at both the drive and feed rollers and is conveyed slowly after its trailing end passes through the drive roller. This reduces the creation of white stripes on an image printed on the print sheet, caused by a change in force applied to the print sheet when leaving the drive roller after being pinched by nips of both the drive and feed rollers, thereby improving print quality.

  • Publication number: 20070284802
Abstract: An abnormal sheet delivery detection device includes a convey device, first pile device, noncontact-type detection unit, and first releasing unit. The convey device includes a sheet holding unit for holding a sheet, and conveys the sheet held by the sheet holding unit. The sheet released from the sheet holding unit is piled on the first pile device at a predetermined sheet release position. The noncontact-type detection unit arranged downstream of the sheet release position in a sheet convey direction detects a presence/absence of the sheet. The first releasing unit selectively switches between a first state wherein the sheet held by the sheet holding unit is released and piled on the first pile device, and a second state wherein the sheet held by the sheet holding unit is conveyed downstream in the sheet convey direction by the first convey device without releasing the sheet.

  • Patent number: 6421581
Abstract: Feeding a plurality of successive sheets of a recording medium by calculating an expected time for a page end detection of a current sheet, and feeding a next sheet of the successive sheets in accordance with the calculated time, but prior to detection of the page end of the current sheet. Calculating the expected time may be detecting the page end for the current sheet, and mathematically filtering the page end detection of the current sheet with a current estimate of expected time for page end detection of the next sheet. The current estimate may be initialized after a first sheet of the successive sheets with a page end detection of the first sheet. The feeding of the next sheet may be controlled by controlling a time between the current sheet and the next sheet based on a time between the page end detection of the current sheet and a detection of the next sheet so as to obtain and maintain the time within a target range.

  • Patent number: 6381441
Abstract: A paper feeding control method for compensating the rotational speed of a paper feeding roller by varying the rotational speed appropriately according to the paper feed delay when detecting the presence of the paper feed delay on a paper feeding path of a liquid electrophotographic color printing device. The paper feeding control method measures the time taken for a paper to be fed on the paper feeding path to a certain part of the feeding path, and determines the presence and degree of the paper delayed at the certain part by comparing the measured time at the certain part with a preset paper feeding time for the certain part. Next, according to the determination made, the method adjusts the rotational speed of the driving motor for driving the paper feeding roller to increase the rotational speed of the paper feeding roller, and to compensate for the paper feed delay.
