Abstract: Provided is a sheet conveying device capable of suppressing the recurrence of overlapped feeding in accordance with the detection of overlapped feeding. The sheet conveying device includes a paper-supply roller and a conveying roller. A sheet-detecting unit detects a leading edge position of a sheet. An overlapped-feeding-detecting unit detects overlapped-feeding of sheets. An overlapped-feeding-distance-calculating unit, based on detection results, calculates an overlapped-feeding distance in which sheets are overlapped. A conveyance-control unit causes the paper-supply roller to stop at a timing when a position separated a set length in a sheet-conveyance direction from a sheet trailing edge reaches the paper-supply roller. The conveyance-control unit, in a case where detection of overlapped feeding by the overlapped-feeding-detecting unit occurs a plurality of times, extends the set length based on the overlapped-feeding distance.

Abstract: To provide a media separator including a lumped-media conveyer mechanism which receives lumped media to convey the lumped media in a predetermined direction, and a picker roller which separates the lumped media conveyed by the lumped-media conveyer mechanism, the lumped-media conveyer mechanism including an auxiliary conveyer body for conveying the lumped media to the picker roller. That makes it possible to reliably separate and send out the lumped media, when having shorter media mixed, and to achieve downsizing of the media separator.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit, a sheet feeding unit for feeding a sheet, a registration roller for transporting the sheet toward the image forming unit, a rotational member for transporting the sheet toward the registration roller, at least one detection member provided on an upstream side of the registration roller, and a sheet size detection unit configured to receive an output from the detection member. The rotational member is configured to continue rotation until transportation of the sheet is completed. The registration roller is configured to rotate when a predetermined waiting time period has elapsed since the detection member detects sheet arrival. The sheet size detection unit is configured to detect a size of the sheet using a time period from a time when the detection member detects the sheet arrival to a time when the detection member detects sheet passage.
Abstract: Provided is a paper-currency transfer device, which prevents paper-currency clogging in a paper-currency transfer unit composed of a plurality of transfer units and which neither has a complicated structure nor needs a dedicated drive source. A medium transfer device transfers a medium from a sending-side paper-currency transfer passage as a first transfer passage to a receiving-side paper-currency transfer passage as a second transfer passage. The medium transfer device comprises a runner mounted coaxially with a transfer roller on a receiving side of the receiving-side paper-currency transfer passage. The runner is rotated at a higher speed than that of the transfer roller on the receiving side. The drive source of the runner is common to that of the transfer roller.
Abstract: [Problem] The present invention has as an object to reduce the occurrence of jamming of sheet within a sheet handling device. [Solution] The sheet handling device comprises an input/output section having the function of stacking sheets and configured to accept and dispense sheets from the sheet handling device; a storing unit configured to store sheets; a transport path allocated between the storing unit and the input/output section and configured to transport sheets; a determination section allocated on the transport path and configured to determine transport condition of sheets being transported; and a controller that, in the event that the determination section determines improper transport condition of a sheet being transported from the storing unit to the input/output section by the transport path, controls the transport path so as to store the sheet in the storing unit.
Abstract: A device (1) for conveying sheet documents between upstream and downstream sheet document processors is disclosed. The device (1) is independent from the upstream and downstream sheet document processors and comprises a receiving section (4) adapted to receive, in use, sheet documents discharged by the upstream sheet document processor into an output pocket of the upstream sheet document processor, and a transport (7, 8) extending from the receiving section (4) to an output section (26). The transport (7, 8) is adapted to convey sheet documents received at the receiving section (4) to the output section (26). The sheet documents are then discharged from the output section (26), in use, to the downstream sheet document processor. A corresponding method is also disclosed.
