  • Patent number: 6736407
Abstract: High-pressure static seals and pressure vessels with static seals for containing fluid at high pressures are shown and described. Embodiments of the invention allow a plug to be easily, manually inserted into and removed from the pressure vessel. A metallic ring in the seal is configured to expand under pressure to prevent an O-ring in the seal from being extruded into a gap between the plug and the vessel wall, but not to expand so much as to cause galling or similar damage when the seal moves with respect to the wall under elevated pressure.

  • Patent number: 6658956
Abstract: Motorized reduction gear intended for functional equipment of motor vehicles, such as window lifters, sunroofs or seats, comprising a rotor provided with a rotor shaft bearing a commutator and passing through a rolling bearing housed in a support of a reduction gearbox in which the said shaft is placed, and a worm of the shaft engaging with a gearwheel housed in the reduction gearbox. A seal is inserted between the bearing and the bearing support, on the side of the bearing close to the inside of the reduction gearbox. An annular housing, the profile of which is adapted to receive the seal resting on a spherical surface of the bearing, is arranged in the wall of the bearing support. The presence of the seal prevents any leak of lubricant out of the gearbox thus ensuring a better longevity of the brushes of the commutator.

  • Patent number: 6547254
Abstract: A seal structure in an engine, including a seal member interposed between a cylinder head having a slanting face portion at least at an intermediate portion of its upper end face to which a valve-operating cam chamber opens, and a head cover coupled to the upper end face of the cylinder head by a bolt to close the valve-operating cam chamber. The head cover has a fit wall portion formed thereon and fitted to an inner peripheral surface of the valve-operating cam chamber, and the seal member is mounted in a seal groove provided in an outer peripheral surface of the fit wall portion to come into close contact with an inner peripheral surface of the cylinder head. Thus, an interference can be provided equally at various portions of the seal member irrespective of the number of bolts used, and the seal member can always exhibit a good seal function.

  • Patent number: 6443502
Abstract: A leakage restriction device for a refrigeration cycle of a vehicle air conditioner in which refrigerant flows has first and second rubber gaskets. The first and second gaskets are disposed between a pipe and a pipe joint of the refrigeration cycle for restricting refrigerant from leaking into atmospheric air. The first gasket is disposed on an atmospheric-air side and the second gasket is disposed on a refrigerant side between the pipe and the pipe joint. The first gasket has a gas permeability lower than that of the second gasket, and has a blistering-resistance which is inferior to that of the second gasket. As a result, refrigerant is restricted from leaking into atmospheric air, and a blister is restricted from being formed in the first and second gaskets even when a pressure of refrigerant is rapidly changed.

  • Patent number: 6423102
Abstract: A jig used for assembling semiconductor devices has an arrangement wherein the first semiconductor integrated circuit chip, which is die-bonded and wire-bonded onto one surface of a lead frame, is fitted to the inner section of a support stage and is supported by an elastic member that is designed to be higher than the inner section, while the lead frame is supported by the outer section of the support stage. In this state, the second semiconductor integrated circuit chip is die-bonded onto the other surface of the lead frame by applying pressure by means of a bonding collet. Thus, it becomes possible to prevent cracks that may be caused in a passivation film and also to improve the reliability and the final yield of semiconductor devices.

  • Patent number: 6419282
Abstract: A fluid assembly is disclosed. The fluid assembly includes a first conduit having a generally annular first body and a first longitudinal channel extending therethrough and a second conduit having a generally annular second body disposed over a portion of the first conduit and having a second longitudinal channel in communication with the first longitudinal channel. The second conduit further includes a retainer fixture. The assembly also includes a seal assembly including an annular seal having first and second seal members, an o-ring disposed within the seal generally against the first and second members, and a retainer biasing the o-ring toward the first and second seal members. The seal assembly is disposed between the first fuel conduit and the second fuel conduit such that the first seal member engages the first conduit and the second seal member engages the second conduit. The retainer engages the retainer fixture, and the seal assembly releasably connects the first conduit and the second conduit.
