Said system comprises a tool holding fixture which can be connected to the lathe, and a took which is stored in a polygonal recess in the tool holding fixture so as to be torsion-proof yet removable. This tool has a tool shank and at least one functional section extending coaxially therefrom. The tool rests axially on a centering area in the polygonal recess, and rests radially on several identical locking elements. These are arranged in radial cavities in the tool holding fixture, at equal angular distances and at an axial distance from the centering area. This enables centering of the tool in the tool holding fixture.

  • Patent number: 6092814
Abstract: A tool holder (10) is proposed for tools inserted into machines for drilling and/or percussion operation having means for rotational driving and axial locking of a tool shank which can be inserted into a tool receptacle (11) of the respective machine, wherein a plurality of axial strips (13) which project inward radially are provided for rotational driving and at least one radially lockable locking body is provided at the tool holder (10) for locking. In order to accommodate tool shanks of two grooved shank systems with different outer diameters, two axial strips (13) which are located opposite from one another and are directed inward radially are arranged at the receptacle bore (12). The axial strips (13) are guided such that they can be released outward radially, particularly in a springing manner, wherein the axial strips (13) engage in corresponding grooves (20) of the respective inserted tool shank (19) for rotational driving.

  • Patent number: 5979913
Abstract: A universal driving and setting tool is used to drive and set an anchor, such as a concrete anchor, having an anchor sleeve and an anchor slug positioned within a bore formed in the anchor sleeve. The driving and setting tool includes an attachment that fits over standard drill bits used in a hammer drill for drilling a hole in a substrate, such as concrete, in which the anchor is set. The attachment engages an end of the drill bit and can fit over drill bits having different lengths and having shanks of different shapes. The driving and setting tool also includes a reversible adapter that is positioned in the attachment in either a first or second position. In a first position, an anchor sleeve hammering portion on the reversible adapter faces outwardly to hammer the anchor sleeve into the hole within the substrate.

  • Patent number: 5964016
Abstract: In the case where a product having a free-curved surface is obtained, a machining work is performed by separate machine tools. Therefore, works of attaching and removing a half-machined product are necessary. Consequently, a lot of working time and labor are required. Also in an automatic production system, productivity is lowered if the system is stopped by failure in gripping during the attaching and removing works and an enormous equipment cost is required. A machining apparatus M comprises a main chuck head 1 having a control axis for holding and rotating a long bar member W, a head stock assembly 3 having three or more control axes, and a bar member feeder 5 for feeding the long bar member W to the head stock assembly 3. These four axes are simultaneously controlled to manufacture a plurality of products V having free-curved surfaces from the long bar member W.

  • Patent number: 5797711
Abstract: A method of securing sheet material to a support by means of a screw threaded fastener having a driving head adapted to drivably cooperate with a driving tool such that operation of the tool causes rotation of the fastener and enables the fastener to be driven into the support. The method is characterized in that a hole is formed through the sheet material by means of a drill bit attached to the driving tool so as to drivably cooperate with that tool in the same manner as the fastener drivably cooperates with the tool. The drill bit is removed from the tool after formation of the hole and is replaced by a fastener which is then driven into the support by the same tool so as to secure the sheet material to the support. The drill bit is characterized in that it has a drilling feature in the form of a substantially flat plate extending outwardly on each of two opposite sides of the rotational axis of the drill bit.
