Transverse Holder And Setscrew Patents (Class 279/18)
  • Patent number: 10773314
Abstract: An adapter for holding a tool in a collet chuck, the adapter containing an external taper to accommodate the adapter in the collet chuck. The adapter has a thread for fastening of the tool, and several shape-mated elements are arranged on an outer surface of the external taper for non-rotational holding of the receptacle body during fastening of the tool.

  • Patent number: 5836728
Abstract: A floating reamer holder includes a tool holder coupled to a mounting shank which is receivable in the chuck of the turret of a machine tool. The coupling between the tool holder and shank includes both a fine adjustment which adjusts the float in order to prevent enlargement of the hole being reamed as well, as to reduce chatter and a coarse adjustment, which compensates for misalignment between the turret and axis of the reamer. The coarse adjustment is accomplished by attaching the mounting shank to an adaptor with a pair of threaded bolts, each of which pass through oversized holes through the base of the mounting shank and are threaded into threaded bores in the adaptor. Since the holes are oversized, the mounting shank is radially shiftable with respect to the adaptor to compensate for machine misalignment. Lubricating bores extend completely through the mounting shank and completely through the adaptor so that the float assembly can be lubricated without disassembling the floating reamer holder.

  • Patent number: 5054974
Abstract: The tool holder, which serves principally for receiving a thread cutting tool, has a length compensation under tension and compression. This purpose is served by two compression springs which comprise massive elements of foamed, open and closed cell polyurethane elastomer. This material has good spring and damping properties. The compression springs operate without fatigue. The tool holder also has a coupling which permits radial movements of the thread cutting tool transverse to the axis of rotation in order to compensate for alignment errors.

  • Patent number: 4611960
Abstract: A tool holder of the two-jaw type is provided which has the centering accuracy and gripping power of a three-jaw geared chuck. The tool holder includes a body having ways formed by a polygonal passageway which is perpendicular to the central axis of the tool holder body. The jaw mechanism includes a differential screw which mates, on one end, with the body of the tool holder and, on the other end, with a pair of anvil pieces. The face of the differential screw and the anvil pieces move toward and away from the central axis of the tool holder along the ways formed by the polygonal passageway and provide the tool-gripping means.
