Cam Actuator Patents (Class 279/43.4)
  • Patent number: 8651498
Abstract: A clamping chuck (1) for radially clamping workpieces with a cylindrical outer clamping surface includes an annular base member (2) which has a hole (5), a shoulder (11), which projects inwards radially and forms a contact surface for the workpiece, an axially-extending hole face (10) and tabs (12) which project inwards radially. Arranged on the base member (2) is a clamping member which is divided into a plurality of substantially L-shaped clamping elements (21), which each include a clamping head (24) arranged in the hole and an actuating lever (27) which extends outwards radially from the clamping head (24). Each clamping head (24) includes, on the outer side thereof, at least one cam (25), which projects outwards radially, engages in a gap between the shoulder (11) and the tabs (12) and is supported radially by the hole face (10) and axially by at least one tab (12).

  • Patent number: 8286970
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for affixing to cylindrical components of medical instruments, for instance an instrumental shaft, having at least one intake part that can be mounted on the cylindrical component and can be affixed to the cylindrical component, wherein a sleeve-shaped collet chuck that essentially coaxially surrounds the cylindrical component is positioned in the intake part and whose inner diameter can be displaced between a span that can slide along the cylindrical component and a span that is in form-locking contiguity on the cylindrical component. To allow for a stationary clamping on the one hand and ensure a non-harmful clamping of the cylindrical component on the other hand, it is proposed with the invention that the inner diameter of the collet chuck can be displaced by a slider that can slide essentially diagonally to the cylindrical component and is mounted so that it can slide in the housing of the intake part.

  • Patent number: 8262095
Abstract: An improved shuck has one end coupling with a fabrication machine through a holding member. The chuck includes a coupling structure, a grip means and a shank. The coupling structure has a first screwing portion at one end and a fastening member at the other end. The grip means has a second screwing portion at one end engageable with the first screwing portion and a plurality of grip jaws at the other end inclined outwards. The coupling structure and the grip means are held in a through hole formed in the shank. The through hole has an internal side to form compact holding of the grip means to firmly hold a tool. After the coupling structure is anchored through the fastening member, the shank can be turned to drive the grip means to move, and the grip jaws can be expanded or contracted to release or grip the tool.

  • Patent number: 8061718
Abstract: A bit holder for a rotary tool is disclosed herein. In one embodiment, the bit holder comprises a drive shaft with an elongated bit channel configured to receive a tool bit for the rotary tool. A cavity is provided in a peripheral wall of the drive shaft. The cavity extends in a radial direction from the bit channel to an outer portion of the drive shaft. A moveable lock member is positioned in the cavity of the drive shaft. A collet is positioned in the bit channel apart from the cavity. The collet includes a collapsible end portion configured to clamp down on the tool bit. A collet nut rotatably engages the drive shaft and is moveable between a release position and a lock position. In the lock position the collet nut clamps the collapsible end portion of the collet while also forcing the lock member into the bit cavity.

  • Patent number: 7971883
Abstract: A failsafe workholding clamping assembly includes a base, an axially slidable draw bar and collet, and a force amplifier. A driver applies a continuous driving force to the force amplifier. The force amplifier amplifies the driving force and applies a resulting amplified force to the draw bar to bias the draw bar toward its closed position and the collet toward its gripping position. A collet opener mounts to the base and selectively applies an opening force to the draw bar to counteract the driving force and move the collet into its released position. The workholding clamping assembly holds a collet in a predetermined rotational orientation and includes a draw bar rotating mechanism to enable an operator to rotate the draw bar to threadingly engage the draw bar and a rotationally-fixed collet.

  • Patent number: 7717436
Abstract: A continuously adjustable collet chuck assembly comprising: a) a collet chuck body, b) an adjustment ring positioned within the collet chuck body, the adjustment ring including fixed key sized and configured to engage a keyway on a collet, and c) a locking member positioned in the collet chuck body to exert a force on the ring, the force having a substantial component in the axial direction to prevent rotation of the ring. The axial force securely fixes the adjustment ring, and therefore the collet, at any rotational position.
