  • Patent number: 7387479
Abstract: An apparatus for changing cutting tool bits rapidly on milling machines, lathes, drills and other types of rotary power tools includes a first portion that is attached to the rotary power tool and retained thereto. A second portion includes the tool bit attached thereto. The second portion is inserted longitudinally toward the rotary power tool and into a bottom of the first portion after a slide has also first been longitudinally displaced in a direction toward the rotary power tool. A plurality of balls are displaced outward, the balls preferably being ball bearings, thereby permitting an upper conical taper of the second portion to bear against an inside taper of the first portion. The slide is released and urged by an inner spring in an opposite direction forcing the balls to engage with an upper edge of a circular recess provided in the second portion, thereby retaining the second portion in position.

  • Patent number: 7287449
Abstract: Screwing tool (1) having a grip (2) and a shank (3), which is received removably in a cavity (4) open toward an end of the grip (2) and which at its free end has an actuating portion (5). The shank (3) is retained in a position of use such that it is fixed in terms of rotation on the grip, to avoid sliding in the axial direction, by a retaining element (14) associated with the grip (2). The retaining element (14) can be displaced into a removal position by displacement of an actuating member (6) in order for the shank to be removed from the grip (2). In a storage position, a large part of the shank (3) is located in the cavity (4), where it is held by a holding element (H). The holding element (H) is releasable, so that part of the shank (3) can be moved out.

  • Patent number: 4378053
Abstract: A tool holder has a rotatable drive sleeve adapted to receive therein a tool and having a pair of diametrically opposed slots disposed axially along part of its length. A key extends inwardly into each slot and is movable through its sot for retaining and rotatably driving the tool. The slots have an axial length greater than that of the keys which are slidable axially there along. A locking collar, having an internal surface diverging progressively outwardly over at least a portion of its length in the axial direction, encircles the sleeve and is movable axially in one direction for locking the keys in engagement with the tool, and in the opposite direction to allow disengagement of the tool. The action of the divergent surface portion on the keys enables the keys to be locked in position over a range of inward penetrations to accommodate tools having driving recesses of different depths.
