Needle Roller Type Socket Patents (Class 279/903)
  • Patent number: 8616560
Abstract: A chuck for clamping an article has a receiving portion including a receiving bore having a longitudinal axis L, and a radially inwardly facing contoured clamping and receiving inner surface. A clamping sleeve is accommodated in the receiving bore and is rotatable between a releasing position and a securing position. The contoured clamping and receiving surface has one or more clamping segments, each clamping segment having a ramp between a trough and a crest, a second ramp between the crest and a depression, and a third ramp between the depression and the succeeding stop ridge. Rotating the clamping sleeve within the receiving bore causes one or more rollers associated with each clamping segment to cooperate with the contoured clamping surface to effect the releasing and the securing of the article.

  • Patent number: 7017919
Abstract: A chuck includes a holder body, a clamp sleeve, and a large number of needle rollers. The holder body has a shank portion, a flange, and a chuck sleeve. The clamp sleeve is fitted onto the outer circumference of the chuck sleeve such that the clamp sleeve is rotatable and axially movable relative to the chuck sleeve. The needle rollers are disposed between the chuck sleeve and the clamp sleeve over the entire circumference. The clamp sleeve is rotated to cause the needle rollers to revolve spirally along the outer circumferential surface of the chuck sleeve while rotating about their own axes in order to decrease and restore the diameter of the chuck sleeve. A thrust member is disposed between the end surface of the flange opposite the shank portion and a corresponding end surface of the clamp sleeve.

  • Patent number: 6131916
Abstract: A chuck comprises a mounting base 11, and a protruding shaft 12 protruding from a center of a front surface of the base and having a tapered surface 13 on the outer peripheral surface thereof. A hole 16 is formed in the protruding shaft and has an opened end surface, and the hole has holding portions 14 and pressure portions 15. The holding portions and the pressure portions are alternately arranged, and the holding portions are situated at a plurality of positions evenly spaced about an inner periphery of the shaft 12, and each of the holding portions has a short radius from the center of hole 16. The pressure portions are situated between the holding portions and have a long radius from the center of hole 16. A rotating cylinder 20 is detachably fitted outside the protruding shaft, and a group of rollers 21 is arranged inside the rotating cylinder that the axis of the group of rollers is aligned along the axis of the rotating cylinder and so that they are supported by appropriate means.

  • Patent number: 6105974
Abstract: A chuck includes a holder body, a clamp sleeve, and a large number of needle rollers. The holder body has a shank portion, a flange formed at one end of the shank portion, and a chuck sleeve that extends from the flange in the direction away from the shank portion. In the chuck, a groove having a predetermined depth is formed in the end surface of the flange opposite the shank portion such that the groove surrounds the base end of the chuck sleeve through which the chuck sleeve is joined with the flange.

  • Patent number: 5335922
Abstract: A chuck for fixing a rotary tool such a drill and an end mill to a machine tool is disclosed. This chuck comprises a main body comprising a taper shank for fixing the chuck to the machine tool and a tool support for clamping the rotary tool, a fastening ring for regulating fastening force by the tool support, a needle roller bearing interposed between the fastening ring and the tool support under an inclined state, and a gear mechanism for rotating the fastening ring. This gear mechanism comprises, for example, a worm wheel formed integrally with the fastening ring and a worm engaging with the worm wheel. When this structure is employed, the rotary tool can be fitted to and removed from the chuck without fixing a spindle of the machine tool, and the fastening ring can be turned without a great force.

  • Patent number: 5158408
Abstract: In a support device to hold a tool or a workpiece, a tightening cylinder is provided at inside with an insertion hole for a substance to be held and on an outer circumference with a taper surface, a rotary cylinder is rotatably and externally fitted to outside of the tightening cylinder through a number of rollers, the rotary cylinder is rotated thereby the rotary cylinder is moved towards diameter side of the tightening cylinder and the tightening cylinder is contracted so as to tighten the substance to be held. Since a number of strain absorbing holes are provided on the inner circumferential surface of the tightening cylinder and scattered uniformly in the axial direction and in the circumferential direction, the deflection adaptability of the tightening cylinder is high and the tightening cylinder can be contracted by a relatively small force.
