Patent number: 5962086Abstract: A bundle of strands of a plastic or textile material are arranged so as to be bundled together and attached, mechanically, to a handle consisting of a pair of spaced apart legs with a spherical knob at the end of each of the legs for facilitating the grasping of the device, a pompon. The handle is configured to accept a finger of one hand between the legs in order to hold the pompon and this construction prevents the handle from easily slipping off the finger since the spacing between the spheres is too small to allow a finger to pass through. The two spheres also provide an indicia that make the spheres appear as eyeballs. As such, the pompon may be used for shaking as by cheer leaders without the fear of being dropped, or may be placed on any surface with the handle extending upwardly, and then appears to be a small creature with a thick furry coat and a pair of eyes observing its surroundings.Type: GrantFiled: June 1, 1998Date of Patent: October 5, 1999Assignee: Valley Decorating CompanyInventor: James Offen

The fixture is made of a one-piece resilient material such as a flat piece of neoprene, and includes two lobes which form a necked inlet which leads into an enlarged pocket. The necked inlet releasably retains ribbon placed therethrough into the pocket and is aided by the frictional characteristics of the fixture material and the expanding ribbon material. The lobes are designed to permit a center-loop to be formed over the center of the bow and also to facilitate tying of the bow around the ribbon held in the enlarged pocket. The lobes resiliently bend out of the way to release the ribbon held in the pocket after the bow is made. The method includes forming the bow from ribbon in the fixture and looping the last portion of the ribbon over the center of the bow to form a center-loop which covers the center of the bow. The method also includes bending the lobes of the fixture out of the way to release the bow formed therein.Type: GrantFiled: January 7, 1991Date of Patent: March 10, 1992Inventor: Lahna J. Specht
