Abstract: A method of providing a hot section in a continuously moving synthetic yarn comprises directing at least one jet of hot fluid obliquely across the moving yarn. The jet intersects the yarn at an obtuse angle to the approaching yarn. The method also produces drawn yarn by passing undrawn yarn into the jet and tensioning the yarn as it passes through the jet. Apparatus for performing the method includes a body member formed with a chamber formed with yarn entry and exit passages and a fluid ejecting nozzle. The body member may be additionally formed with a cavity opening from the chamber opposite the nozzle.

Abstract: A method of producing commercially usable textured synthetic multifilament yarn from commercially produced undrawn multifilament synthetic yarn of a type which has normally a limited operational life and which has exceeded the normal operational life for undrawn yarn in which the overage undrawn yarn is fed continuously without pause through two discrete successive treatments with hot fluid at a temperature high enough to plasticize the yarn. The yarn is drawn to a chosen ratio of extension while it is passing through the first treatment with hot fluid. Next the yarn is jet textured while it is passing through the second treatment with hot fluid. The yarn may be subjected to a cooling action between the two successive treatments with hot fluid.

Abstract: A textile product formed of at least one thermoplastic yarn is texturized by subjecting the yarn simultaneously to a mechanical traction force and a high frequency electrical field applied at local points on the yarn. In order to increase the efficiency of texturizing, the yarn is moistened before it is subjected to the electrical field.
Abstract: A method of producing threads and fibers of synthetic materials uses a cylindrically-shaped body of the synthetic material which is allowed to rotate against a scratching tool and a peeling knife arranged to follow the scratching tool in the direction of rotation. The peeled-off curtain of parallel threads is stretched, possibly while being simultaneously heated, and possibly the threads are cut to form a staple fiber or are ground to a short-staple floccule. A device for carrying out the afore-mentioned method, has a turning mechanism, a foil-peeling knife secured to a carriage of the turning mechanism, and a scratching tool arranged to precede the peeling knife.

Abstract: An improved apparatus capable of carrying out a continuous method of forming yarn elements from a supply roll of thermoplastic film, which method is characterized by slitting the roll into flat strips of preselected width, simultaneously subjecting the strips to heat and to a pulling or drawing force to elongate the strips which reduces their width and at the same time minimizes their subsequent stretch capability, and thereafter interengaging said strips on a textile-forming machine, such as a knitting or weaving apparatus, to form a desired product. The method is particularly adaptable to the production of an improved knitted bag formed of said flat yarn elements.

Abstract: A process for producing a feed yarn which can be draw-textured, without difficulty with filaments melting or sticking together, to have a programmed distribution of deeper-dyeing sections along the resulting false-twist textured yarn. The feed yarn is prepared by passing a spin-oriented polyester yarn in substantially undrawn condition past a source of heat where it is heated intermittently along its length to provide a programmed distribution of heat-treated sections. When drawn, the heat-treated sections will draw to a lesser extent and will then dye to deeper shades than the rest of the yarn.
Abstract: An apparatus for texturizing an initial rapidly melt-spun and preoriented thermoplastic yarn, especially a linear polyester yarn, wherein the initial yarn is subjected to draw-texturizing in a residual stretching stage with heating of the running yarn followed by unilateral or one-sided cooling to provide a temperature gradient over the transverse cross-section of the yarn and in a subsequent relaxation and heat-fixing stage to self-crimp the yarn under differential shrinkage. High yarn speeds are achieved in this draw-texturizing apparatus which is therefore especially useful in combination with rapid melt-spinning units.
Abstract: Apparatus and process for intermingling a synthetic continuous filament multifilament yarn at substantially any point on a synthetic filament yarn threadline by subjecting the yarn to simultaneous action of two opposed fluid jets which are radial and perpendicular to the yarn threadline. The apparatus has a yarn processing bore which is circular in cross-section and has a length to diameter ratio of from 1 to 2 to 2 to 1. The air entry ports of the apparatus are radial to the bore and opposed to each other in a common plane which is substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the bore.
Abstract: Simultaneous production of a large number of winding packages of filaments of flat, round or profiled cross section by apparatus including extrusion devices, at least one cooling device, guide means, after-treatment devices (stretching, heating, etc.) and winding devices.
