Dropped Bodies Patents (Class 280/2)
  • Patent number: 11186318
Abstract: Systems and methods for transporting small, dense cargo over roadways via a specialized transportation trailer are provided. The disclosed transportation trailer includes a space frame including a lower central portion designed to directly receive and support the cargo that is being carried by the trailer, as well as an upper portion that extends above the height of the cargo. The space frame also includes lower side portions that extend longitudinally in opposite directions from the lower central portion to connect the space frame to the wheels and trailer hookup of the transportation trailer. The space frame may further include a truss structure formed between the lower central portion and the upper portion to increase the rigidity of the trailer. The transportation trailer is designed to minimize the height of the cargo's center of gravity, increase trailer rigidity, increase cargo capacity, and maximize ground clearance compared to existing trailer designs.

Abstract: A shallow-draft dolly for moving a pre-fabricated storm shelter or other load throw threshold with minimal clearance. In one embodiment, the dolly has two side rail units, each with a lower and an upper bar; four wheel arms with attached wheels extending from the ends of the side rails, at least two of which are pivotally attached; front and rear cross members disposed between the ends of the side rail units; and two or more intermediate cross members transversing between the lower bars, thereby providing a slatted load bed positioned at or below the axles of the wheels, and wherein the front cross member is removable such that a load may be moved over an open pit with the wheels astride the pit, the load lifted from the bed, the front cross member removed, and the dolly rolled from underneath the load thereby leaving the load suspended over the pit.

  • Publication number: 20120112423
Abstract: The handcart has various embodiments, each embodiment having a pair of larger wheels at the back of the load-carrying platform and a rear axle located above the plane of at least the forward portion of the platform. Smaller caster wheels are mounted on arms extending forward and outward from the forward corners of the platform. The outward ends of the arms are displaced upwardly to place the platform bottom only very slightly higher than the bottoms of the forward casters, thus increasing stability by lowering the center of gravity of the cart and contents, and facilitating loading and unloading of the cart due to the very low platform. The cart need not be tilted rearward to lift the platform from the floor, but may be pushed over the underlying surface with the load-carrying platform remaining level and with all four wheels rolling over the underlying surface.

  • Patent number: 5632497
Abstract: A portable cart assembly for use in tile or marble installation and for transporting mortar, water, tiles, marble, and associated tools. A low elevation platform carries a mortar pail just above floor level such that the top of the mortar pail is at the lowest possible level. The low level minimizes the amount of bending required from a tile worker to reach the mortar during installation of tiles or marble. The device has offset wheels which are attached to the perimeter of the platform such that the wheels allow mobility but do not increase the clearance between the low elevation platform and the floor. The wheels can be attached to an optional raised perimeter ring that provides auxiliary storage for tools. Multiple carts can be attached in train like fashion and pulled to the work site by a handle assembly.

  • Patent number: 4986190
Abstract: A vehicle, preferably a track vehicle, having a body and wheels arranged in pairs at the sides of the body. The wheels of each pair are supported by a gantry-like frame having support elements extending upwardly from the wheels and a cross member located in the roof region of the body. This arrangement allows the vehicle floor between the wheels to be made quite low and allows the height of the floor to remain the same throughout the entire vehicle length. The wheels can be driven from a motor located in the roof region and are preferably steerable to some extent to allow necessary adjustment as the vehicle negotiates bends.

  • Patent number: 4824316
Abstract: A system for transporting a structure to a site of use via a towing truck and a wheeled dolly that support opposite ends of the structure during transport. Two coupling members, one mounted on the dolly and the other mountable on the truck, each have fixed connectors that mate with fixed connectors on the ends of the structure. Such mating is facilitated by providing each of the coupling members with hooks that engage a bar on the end of the structure and a positioning assembly that moves the hooks vertically, longitudinally and laterally. The positioning assembly has an outer frame that is moved vertically on the coupling member by hydraulic actuating cylinders and contains an inner frame that is moved longitudinally on the outer frame by a hydraulic actuating cylinder connected between the frame. The hooks are supported on a plate that is moved laterally in the inner frame by a double-ended hydraulic actuating cylinder on the plate.
