  • Patent number: 11230342
Abstract: A sensing-enabled automatically foldable scooter frame includes a support frame, a seat, an electric pushrod, a sensor, a controller, and an operating member. The electric pushrod is provided at the support frame to drive folding and unfolding of the support frame. The sensor is provided at a surface of the seat. The controller receives a signal from the sensor to control extension or retraction of the electric pushrod. The operating member is electrically connected to the controller. The operating member is disabled when the sensor detects existence of pressure, and the controller controls the electric pushrod in a retracted state, thereby ensuring the support frame in an unfolded state. The operating member is enabled when no pressure is detected, and the controller drives folding or unfolding of the support frame. The present invention can prevent a scooter frame from being folded accidentally, thereby protecting a user from being hurt.

The present invention, in one embodiment, features a curved rim extending around a mounting plate to which an object or an object carrier can be attached. The object is mounted off-center relative to the central axis of the curved rim. According to the invention, a counter-balancing weight offsets the moment associated with the object to allow the moving device to roll along a surface, and thereby move the object, with application of a small amount of force. According to embodiments of the present invention, the curved rims include at least one section having an increased radius of curvature relative to other sections of the curved rim to promote rotation of the moving device.

  • Patent number: 6726231
Abstract: A vehicle has two suppoting wheels, each mounted on an axle. A carriage that can hold a human rider is positioned in between the supporting wheels, suspended from the axle. No portion of the carriage extends from the axles a distance greater than the radius of the supporting wheels. A driveable wheel, such as a sprocket gear, between the supporting wheels is mounted on an axle and moves with a supporting wheel. Turning the driveable wheel from the carriage causes the supporting wheel to turn. The supporting wheels can be connected at their peripheries so as to enclose the carriage. Alternatively, the supporting wheels can be unconnected and fixed to the axles so that they can rotate independently. The vehicle can be unpowered, powered by the rider, or powered by an engine. It can be adapted to ride on land, water, or snow and ice.

  • Patent number: 5860663
Abstract: A land transportation device for compact, sandy and open land, with or without a slope, based on the intersection of two reinforced and identical truncated rings in orthogonal planes with respect to each other. The geometric centers shifted of the rings are shifted over the line of intersection of these planes. The weight of the device is reduced since it is made up of two light truncated rings, while at the same time, the cabin space is increased. The rings present a soft friction surface which gives the device better adherence to the ground, reducing the vibrations and facilitating the movement of the device. The device also possesses a hinge system which makes it possible to fold the ring on two axes, parallel to each other, thereby reducing its size. The disassembled device can be placed in a rectangular box for transportation and storage.

  • Patent number: 5769441
Abstract: A parallel vehicle includes three main control systems. The first controls the position and angle of the two parallel wheels relative to a fixed chassis, enabling the wheels to be moved outwardly and inwardly and the camber varied for greater stability, aerodynamic effect, or turning. This first system may be mechanically or hydraulically actuated, but preferably is controlled by a pair of control members whose position relative to the chassis corresponds to the desired position of the wheels relative to the chassis in order to provide an intuitive control mechanism. The second system is the propulsion system which may, for example, take the form of a derailleur drive of the type used in bicycles, but with power from the propulsion system being transmitted to the wheels via a rotating cable and individual gearboxes for each wheel which permit the direction of the wheels to be reversed.
