Abstract: An apparatus including a frame with a pivot axis defined thereupon, a crank arm bearing at the pivot axis; a first and a second crank arm coupled to the crank arm bearing; at least two wheels coupled to the frame, at least one of which is a drive wheel; a first and a second foot link, operably coupled to drive wheel to transfer power to said drive wheel so as to propel the apparatus, each foot link including a foot receiving portion for receiving a user's foot, a first end coupled to the frame, and a second end coupled to a respective one of the first and the second crank arms, wherein the foot receiving portion is movable along a generally elliptical path having a stride length greater than 17 inches.

Abstract: A bicycle that includes an elliptical pedaling motion is provided. The bicycle includes a frame, having a front wheel and a rear wheel, and a first and a second foot link guide track. A first and a second foot link, each including a foot platform and a guide track coupler that slideably couples each foot link to a respective foot link guide track and a crank assembly that is coupled to the first and second foot links and to a sprocket that is rotatably coupled to the frame. Abstract: A door substrate 21 includes a plate-like door substrate body 22, a peripheral flange 32 formed on the outer periphery of the door substrate body, a hinging wall 23 protruding from the back of the outer periphery of said door substrate body so as to correspond to one side of the air bag case and an attaching wall 24 protruding from the back of the outer periphery of the door substrate body so as to correspond to at least one of the remaining sides of said air bag case. The door substrate includes a hinging side outward-extending sandwiching piece 31 formed on the back of the peripheral flange 32 on the side of said hinging wall or the side of the hinging wall, and a fragile portion 27 for breakage at the stem of the attaching wall 24 and an attaching side sandwiching piece 29 formed on the side wall of the attaching wall to sandwich an peripheral edge of an air bag door opening. The hinging wall is secured to the air bag case.
Abstract: A combination exercise and land travel device includes a forwardly facing pedalling station from which a first operator propels the device and a steering control at the pedalling station. The device further includes a rowing station usable by a second operator to provide further propulsion for the device in addition to that provided at the pedalling station.
Abstract: A rotatable fifth wheel mechanism for use on converter dollies, truck tractors, and permanently attached dollies. The mechanism includes: a fifth wheel supported on a frame for rotation about a vertical axis; and a clutch secured between the fifth wheel and the frame, to control rotation of the fifth wheel relative to the frame. The clutch includes a drum secured to the fifth wheel, friction pad completely surrounding the drum and an inflatable bladder for applying pressure to the friction pad. The fifth wheel mechanism also includes apparatus for increasing or decreasing the pressure in the bladder to selectively vary the engagement force between the drum and friction pads. The apparatus for selectively increasing or decreasing pressure includes at least a pair of electrically operated air valves.
Abstract: A human powered vehicle comprises a chassis supported on a pair of front wheels and a rear wheel; a front seat for supporting a front occupant in a supine position at the front end of the chassis facing the front wheels; a rear seat for supporting a rear occupant in a supine position behind the front seat and also facing the front wheels; and a drive for propelling the vehicle, the drive including foot pedals operated by the front occupant, foot pedals operated by the rear occupant, and hand levers operated by the rear occupant.
Abstract: An exercise apparatus including upper and lower body exercising assemblies which are operable in isolation or in conjunction with each other. The upper body assembly includes rotary handle members which rotate a driving sprocket. The upper driving sprocket in turn rotates an upper driven sprocket which is connected via two additional sprockets and an endless chain to the wheel of the lower body exercising assembly. The lower body assembly is a conventional exercise bicycle including rotary foot pedals for rotating a lower driving sprocket which in turn rotates a lower driven sprocket connected to the wheel. The upper and lower driven sprockets are one-directional ratcheted sprockets which can be rotated only by the endless chain joining them to the upper and lower driving sprockets, respectively, to provide the independent operation of the upper and lower body exercising assemblies.

Abstract: A hand-propelled wheelchair for riding upon sidewalks and ramps without rolling backwards or abruptly changing directions. The wheelchair has at least one, and preferably a pair of cam-actuated manual drive assemblies. Each manual drive assembly has a drive mechanism, which preferably takes the form of sprockets and a flexible chain drive. The manual drive assembly also includes a clutch and a rotatable hand crank with a cam thereon for engaging the clutch and drive mechanism. The hand crank and cam are movable from a drive position to a free-wheeling position. An auxiliary exercise assembly is provided to exercise the feet of the person sitting in the wheelchair when the hand crank is rotated in the free-wheeling position.
