The blocks are mounted on the upper surface of a ski and the bindings are mounted on the pair of blocks. A connector connects the pair of blocks. The connector is inextensible and is mounted on the pair of blocks such that when the ski is flexed the connector prohibits the spreading of the pair of blocks while permitting the pair of blocks to approach toward one another.

The heel holding device furthermore includes a first body connectable to a ski in an adjustable position and a second body which is slidably supported by the first body in a direction parallel to the longitudinal extension of the ski to thereby maintain a constant distance between the heel holding device and the toe holding device of the fastening even during flexing of the ski during use.

    Abstract: A snowshoe is provided with a transverse steel cable that engages the opposite longitudinal side members of its frame structure. A rubber strap is attached at its opposite ends to one of the jaw members for further securing the boot to the harness. The decking of the snowshoe has an opening to allow the pivotal movement of the front portion of the boot during use.
