  • Patent number: 4832361
Abstract: A foldable baby carriage also having a handle bar shiftable from a forward to a reverse position. Within a lower portion on each side of the handle bar is located a slider casing containing two sliders. Each slider holds a bar projecting through the casing of the handle bar to engage either a locking mechanism for the handle bar or a locking mechanism for folding the carriage. The sliders are connected by cable threaded through the interior of the handle bars to two pivoting operation levers at the top of the handle bar. The top of the handle bar is composed of two hard resin parts joined together and supporting the operation levers.

  • Patent number: 4832354
Abstract: A convertible carrier for infants and small children is adjustable to alternative stroller and car seat configurations. The rear wheels of the carrier are mounted on levers which pivot relative to a frame supporting a contoured shell of the carrier. A telescoping handle, mounted pivotally to the levers at points spaced apart from the rear wheels, can be pushed or pulled to pivot the levers, to position the rear wheels in respective operative and storage (car seat) positions. The forward wheels of the carrier can be rotatably mounted directly to the frame. Alternatively, the front wheels can be mounted to the frame through forward levers which pivot on the frame, and are associated with the rearward levers through linking rods, whereby pivoting of the rearward levers causes a corresponding pivoting of the forward levers between operative and storage positions.

  • Patent number: 4822064
Abstract: A device that converts for use as both a child car seat and a stroller. A molded plastic seat is mounted on a tubular frame to receive a child. Front and rear wheel assemblies extend when the device is used as a stroller and retract when the device is used as a car seat. A handle extends for use as a stroller and retracts when in the car seat mode of use. The components can be locked in the extended position. The extension and retraction of the wheels and handle are effected pivotally and telescopically in different embodiments of the invention.

  • Patent number: 4786064
Abstract: An infant seat which converts from a car seat into a stroller. The infant seat comprises a chair connected to a wheel frame on which the wheel set is mounted. The wheel set consists of front and rear wheels connected by a linking means. When the wheel frame is in a stowed condition, it supports the chair in either a forward-facing or rearward-facing car seat configuration. The wheel set is stowed behind or below the chair while the car seat is secured to the automobile seat by the automobile safety belts threaded through the wheel frame. To convert the car seat into a stroller, the wheel frame rotates about its pinned connections to the chair to simultaneously deploy the linked front and rear wheels. The chair back reclines with respect to the chair bottom to convert the stroller into a carriage. Modifications of the wheel frame allow the infant seat to be converted into an infant rocker. Accessories such as a sun shade and footrest also extend from the chair.

  • Patent number: 4779879
Abstract: A baby carriage (1) has a push rod (10) which can be switched between two states, one for the face-to-back push mode and the other for the face-to-face push mode, front wheel casters (14), and rear wheel casters (15). When the push rod (10) is in the face-to-back push mode, wire position switching means (19) is operated to maintain a wire (18) in a rear position. In this state, the engagement between front wheel caster locking means (16) and the rotary yokes of the front wheel casters (14) has been canceled, so that the front wheel casters are allowed to swivel. On the other hand, rear wheel caster locking means (17) is in engagement with the rotary yokes of the rear wheel casters (15), so that the swiveling of the rear wheel casters is inhibited. When the push rod (10) is switched to the face-to-face push mode, the wire position switching means is operated to switch the wire to the front position.

  • Patent number: 4632409
Abstract: A combination automobile infant seat and baby stroller assembly that allows the automobile infant seat to be easily and quickly converted to a conventional baby stroller. The conversion is accomplished by a retractable wheel and fender assembly. When the invention is in the infant seat configuration, the wheels and fenders are in the retracted position allowing the wheels to serve as a stable platform. When it is desired to use the invention as a baby stroller, it is removed from the vehicle compartment and the wheel and fender assembly is pressed downwardly to cause the wheel locking mechanism to lock the wheels in place. The invention also features an infant seat attachment base that allows various models of infant seats to be safely secured and angularly adjusted. Two other designs are also disclosed where each employ a different type of wheel retracting and extending mechanisms.

  • Patent number: 4616371
Abstract: This invention is a baby carriage bed (1) of the so-called "box type" which is basically in the form of a box as a whole comprising a bottom wall (2), a front wall (3), a back wall (4), and left-hand and right-hand side walls (5, 6). In such box-shaped bed (1), when the forwardly disposed walls (2a, 3, 5a, 6a) are displaced to another place and when particularly in the bottom wall (2) its rear portion (2b) alone is left to form the seat of a chair, a chair form is established. To provide the necessary arrangement therefor, a pair of longitudinally slidable draw links (12) are installed on both sides under the bottom wall (2), so that when the draw links (12) are forwardly withdrawn, they hold the front portions (2a, 5a, 6a) of the bottom wall (2) and left-hand and right-hand side walls (5, 6) and the front wall (3). The front portions (5a, 6a) of the left-hand and right-hand side walls (5, 6) are constructed to be separable from the rear portions (5b, 6b).

The front wall (3) is separable from the left-hand and right-hand side walls (5, 6) and turnable around a hinge line (11) connecting the front wall to the bottom wall (2). A longitudinally slidable draw rod (12) is installed on each side below the bottom wall (2). The front portions (2a, 5a, 6 a) are attached to the draw rods (12) so that when the latter are pushed rearwardly, the front portions slide into an overlap relationship relative to their rear portions (2b, 5b, 6b).

The seat shaping member is installed so as to be turned as the angle of inclination of the backrest is changed. The seat shaping member controls the position of the backrest such that when the backrest is in its relatively raised state, substantial alignment between the backrest and head guard is obtained, with the head guard being relatively lowered. If it is deformed into a bed form, the bent state of the backrest and head guard is obtained and the head guard performs its inherent function as a head guard.
