Abstract: Devices and methods are disclosed which relate to lifting a user from a seated position to a raised position. This is performed by incorporating a lifting mechanism into a seat coupled to a movable base portion. Actuators coupled to drive shafts enable a plurality of linkages to be raised and tilted, enabling the seat to rise at the push of a button or other triggering mechanism. A plurality of compressible springs enables an even balance between the weight of the human and the pressure of the lifting mechanism underneath the seat. As the lifting portion lifts the seat, an angle of the seat changes from a substantially horizontal position to a relatively angled position, mimicking the natural motion of the hips and thighs for humans needing assistance. • Patent number: 7775547
Abstract: A stroller has a frame structure with two laterally spaced apart sides. A seat is supported between the sides of the frame structure. A frame extension is provided on each side of the frame structure. Each frame extension projects rearward of the seat. The frame structure is at least collapsible laterally from a side-to-side in-use spacing between the frame extensions to a side-to-side compact spacing less than the in-use spacing between the frame extensions. A cross-brace extends between and interconnects the frame extensions. The cross-brace is selectively reconfigurable from a stiff condition to a loose condition with the frame extensions in the in-use spacing. In the stiff condition the brace maintains the in-use spacing between the frame extensions and in the loose condition the brace permits the frame extensions to collapse to the compact spacing. A cup holder can be carried on the cross-brace to be collapsible with the frame structure.

Abstract: The present invention provides a spoked wheel comprising: a rim comprising a continuous series of circumferential sections each of which has opposed ends and is connected at each of its ends to an adjacent section by means of a hinge that allows the two adjacent sections to pivot with respect to each other substantially in the plane of the wheel; a hub that rotates with the rim; and a plurality of spokes extending between the hub and the rim and supporting the rim on the hub, each spoke having an end that is pivotally attached to the rim via a pivot. At least one of the spokes is movable with respect to the hub in the plane of the wheel to change the angular spacing between adjacent spokes and alter the shape of the rim between a circular shape and a non-circular shape, preferably a flattened shape. The wheel may also include a tubular tyre held on the rim and is primarily intended for use in connection with bicycles and wheelchairs.

Abstract: A foldable, cross-frame wheelchair with a foldable seat and foldable seatback. The foldable seat has a first outside edge retained relative to a longitudinal frame member at a second, upper end of a first cross-frame member of the wheelchair frame and a second outside edge retained relative to a longitudinal frame member at a second, upper end of a second cross-frame member of the wheelchair frame. A longitudinal hinge portion is interposed between the first and second outside edges to divide the seat into first and second pivotally coupled members. The hinge portion can be disposed to the obverse side of the first and second members of the seat. The foldable seatback can be divided into upper and lower foldable seatbacks.

Abstract: A retractable frame structure of a baby stroller includes a frame, a pair of scissors-type linking sets, a push rod and a linking rod. Each scissors-type linking set is connected with the push rod and the link rod, respectively. When pushing the pushing rod, the scissors-type linking set will be collapsed and the linking rod will urge front wheels to move backward towards rear wheels, thus the collapsed stroller has a compact size which is convenient to carry and to store.

  • Patent number: 7766367
Abstract: An adjustable handle assembly is configured for a device that supports and carries a child and that can be moved along a surface. The handle assembly is coupled to a handle extension that extends from a part of the device and that has an end with an extension axis. The handle assembly has a stem configured to attach to the end of the handle extension. The handle assembly also has a grip body coupled to the stem. The grip body is independently movable relative to the handle extension both longitudinally along the extension axis and rotationally about the extension axis. An actuator is provided on the handle assembly and can be actuated between a lock position and a release position. In the lock position, the grip body is in a fixed position relative to the handle extension. In the release position, the grip body is permitted to move both longitudinally and rotationally relative to the extension axis between a plurality of selectable longitudinal and rotational positions.
