  • Publication number: 20100147816
Abstract: A portable engine driven welder is provided that has a case enclosing an internal combustion engine and a welding generator, and a running gear that is attached to the case. The running gear includes a pair of rails and a pair of leading wheels connected to the rails toward the back wall of the case. A pair of trailing wheels is connected to the rails toward the front wall of the case. The leading and trailing wheels have different resiliency values with the leading wheels being more resilient or flexible than the trailing wheels. This allows the leading wheels to act like a suspension system for the portable engine driven welder and running gear by soaking up or absorbing impacts instead of transmitting them therethrough so as to reduce exposure of the portable engine driven welder to such impacts.

Abstract: A vehicle frame for a motor vehicle, configured as ladder frame, includes two side rails which are connected by cross members. Each side rail is made of at least one longitudinally welded hollow section, wherein the hollow section has a cross section in the shape of a rectangle with wall portions, which are curved in cross section, and rounded longitude edges. The hollow section may hereby be roll-formed. The cross section of the side rails varies in its length dimension and ascends starting from a front region to a maximum and descends thereafter to a rear region H. The rounded cross sectional configuration of the side rails with slight oversizing of the outer dimensions results in a greater geometrical moment of inertia. As a result, the wall thickness can be reduced so as to attain a decrease in weight and cost savings.

Abstract: A frame for a heavy-duty vehicle includes a pair of spaced-apart and longitudinally-extending main members. At least two cross members extend between and are attached to the main members. Each one of at least a pair of hangers is attached to and depends from a respective one of the main members for suspending an axle/suspension system from the frame. A force distribution assembly is attached to the main members and the hangers and includes a component that deforms or shears in an extreme event. The force distribution assembly extends perpendicularly between the main members and interrupts the transmission of forces encountered by the axle/suspension system that move through each one of the hangers to its respective main member, and redirects at least a portion of such forces across said force distribution assembly and into the other one of the main members.

Abstract: An anti-deflection structure for a chassis of a remote-controlled car includes a board which is added below a central differential gear at a center of a chassis, to strengthen a rigid structure of the chassis. A center of the board is provided with a hollow part for emplacing a gear set of the central differential gear, and an exterior side of the hollow part is provided with a plurality of pivoting holes. The pivoting holes correspond to through-holes on the chassis for locking the central differential gear, thereby locking and fixing the board. In addition, the hollow part is locked at columns of the central differential gear by transfixing screws from bottom to top into the pivoting holes and the through-holes. On the other hand, front and rear ends of the board provide for connection of two support arms, thereby constituting the anti-deflection structure for the chassis.

Abstract: A vehicle frame includes a plurality of hollow tubular members welded together. An opening in a side wall of the frame which receives a door or window of the vehicle is bordered by at least two hollow tubular members which are interconnected by a non-tubular, reinforcing corner member. The reinforcing corner member includes a pair of solid parallel plates spaced apart by a perpendicular cross-member. Each plate of the reinforcing corner member has integral first and second elongated portions extending on either side of a continuous curve therebetween which has a substantially constant radius of curvature such as to define a smooth transition between the integral first and second elongated portions of the plate. The reinforcing corner member distributes stress away from the curved corner and to the tubular members, thereby preventing stress concentration at a joint between the two tubular members surrounding the opening in the frame.
