The siderails are attached to each other at a joint (206) and have respective vertical sections (208) and (210) in overlapped contact with each other at the joint and providing a first mounting pad (230) of increased stock thickness. A cross member (226) is attached to the siderails at the joint and has a vertical flange (228) in overlapped contact with a respective vertical section (214) of the rear siderail to provide a second mounting pad (232) of increased stock thickness. A spring hanger (218) is mounted to and extends horizontally between the mounting pads.

  • Patent number: 5215331
Abstract: In this improved trailer chassis, the accessories which typically added weight without adding to the structural capacity of the trailer have been replaced with accessories which are incorporated into the structural members. The frame of the trailer chassis is comprised of a front and rear beam connecting two longitudinal side beams that incorporate a recess to capture the trailer floor decking. The axle beam mounts between the two side beams to serve as lateral support to the side beams and as a flooring beam and incorporates a open section into its section through which an axle can be mounted. The fenders for the trailer are mounted so that they contribute to the structural integrity of the frame while serving as a side enclosure in addition to a wheel well.

  • Patent number: 5118244
Abstract: A self-unloading load hauling box for use on a towed carriage or carried by a powered mobile vehicle wherein the box is a rigid unit having a bottom wall with a floor plate and side walls and front end wall projecting up from the rigid bottom wall. An endless belt is looped around the bottom wall and runs on a driven roller at the rear end and an idler roller at the front end of the box. The endless belt is driven through an arc of selected length at spaced apart intervals to unload contents from the box. The jerky action from intermittently driving the belt has a tendency to cause a vibration, loosening the content in the box and thus results in a relatively even discharge during unloading. Between the upper run of the endless belt and the upper surface of the floor is a friction reducing pad which also absorbs shock loads tending to reduce damage to the belt and/or floor when loading heavy chunk material.

  • Patent number: 5005864
Abstract: An apparatus and method are disclosed for modifying motor vehicle frames to provide for the installation of drive line components that are different, heavier or larger than the drive line components originally installed by the manufacturer of the vehicle or drive line components that were not originally present in the vehicle. Accessory hangers to provide support for those, different, heavier, larger or additional drive line components are attached to the frame without adversely affecting the structural integrity of the frame. The accessory hangers are easily removable to provide for the reinstallation of the original drive line components. The engine compartment is enlarged when necessary by providing spacers between the body of the vehicle and the frame to enlarge the height of the engine compartment.

  • Patent number: 4971355
Abstract: A frame or chassis for mobile homes and the like provides a pair of laterally spaced, parallel I-beams extending the length of the frame. Wood floor joists are mounted on top of the I-beams and extend laterally beyond the I-beams in both directions. One-piece uniriggers having substantial tensile strength but relatively minor column strength in compression are connected to their ends directly or indirectly to the ends of the floor joists. The uniriggers provide outrigger portions extending downwardly and inwardly to the adjacent I-beam and a cross member portion extending laterally between the I-beams. The uniriggers are welded to the bottoms of the I-beams and cooperate with the associated floor joist to provide a trusslike structure which prevents rolling action of the beams. The frame or chassis provides adequate strength and rigidity when the frame is being supported by wheels and axles for road transportation and also when the frame is supported at intervals around its periphery at a use location.
