Inertia Responsive Locking Or Tightening Of Belt Or Harness Patents (Class 280/806)
  • Patent number: 12036943
Abstract: An assembly includes a vehicle pillar elongated along an axis. The assembly includes seatbelt retractor and a webbing retractably extendable from the retractor. The seatbelt retractor is lockable from an unlocked position in which the webbing is extendable from and retractable into the retractor to a locked position in which the retractor restricts extension of the webbing from the retractor. The assembly includes a frame supported by the pillar and defining a slot elongated along the axis of the pillar. The slot has a terminal upper end. The assembly includes a seatbelt guide slideably engaged with the slot. The seatbelt retractor is below the seatbelt guide. The webbing extends upwardly from the seatbelt retractor around the seatbelt guide. The assembly includes a spring between the frame and the seatbelt guide. The spring biases the seatbelt guide against the terminal upper end of the slot.

Abstract: In this buckle device, when a second wind of a belt is pulled out from a spool, a load at which the belt is permitted to be pulled out is small, whereas slide resistance of the belt with respect to a slide face is large. When a first wind of the belt is then pulled out from the spool, the belt pull-out permitting load is large, whereas the slide resistance of the belt with respect to the slide face is small. This enables variation in a load at which extending of a buckle body is permitted to be suppressed.

  • Patent number: 10286872
Abstract: A restraint system includes a housing and a rotor engaged with the housing. The housing and the rotor define a cavity therebetween. A resilient material is disposed in the cavity. A helical interface is between the housing and the rotor. The rotor is moveable relative to the housing along the helical interface. A seat belt buckle is connected to and moveable relative to one of the housing and the rotor. During a vehicle impact, the seat belt buckle may cause the rotor to move along the helical interface towards the housing. In this situation, the resilient material may be compressed between the rotor and the housing.

  • Patent number: 10017080
Abstract: A vehicle seating assembly includes a seat having first and second retainers. A seatback includes a lower cross-member extending between the first and second retainers. An aperture is located in the lower cross-member. A single torsion bar extends between the first and second retainers and is operably coupled therewith. The torsion bar includes an intermediate portion having first and second engagement portions, which are insertably engaged with the aperture. First and second linear portions extend between the first retainer and the first engagement portion and the second retainer and the second engagement portion, respectively. First and second distal ends are configured to engage the first and second retainers, respectively, which induces a torsional resistance in the torsion bar when the seatback is displaced from a zero torsion position. The torsion bar is at the zero torsion position when the seatback is displaced rotationally forward from a design position.
