Ski Or Pole Having Means To Scrape Snow Or Ice From Ski Or Boot Patents (Class 280/813)
  • Patent number: 5713097
Abstract: A boot scraper of novel design and shape and incorporating a novel boot scraping surface that can be mounted to, or incorporated in, skiing implements such as skis and snowboards, as well as ski boot bindings, snowboard boot bindings, and ski boots and snowboard boots. In one embodiment, the boot scraper comprises an elongated polygonal molded rigid ABS plastic block that is mounted to the top surface of a ski. The block is mounted to the ski by an adhesive or by mechanical fasteners such as screws. The top surface of the boot scraper incorporates a two-dimensional grid of adjacent polyhedrons extending in an upward direction. The tips of the polyhedrons form a scraping surface consisting of a multi-dimensional array of spaced, generally rigid pointed surfaces. The underside of the block contains hollowed out cavities that reduce weight but maintain strength and rigidity of the block. The scraper is used by drawing the sole of the ski boot to be cleaned over the scraper.

  • Patent number: 5358277
Abstract: A ski pole assembly includes a pole and a snow head/scraper mounted toward the lower end of the pole. The snow head/scraper is in the form of disc-like member defining an upper surface and a lower surface, with a peripheral edge extending therebetween. The peripheral edge includes a substantially flat, planar surface. The intersection between the substantially flat, planar surface and one of the surfaces of the snow head/scraper member defines a substantially linear scraping edge, which is used by a skier to scrape snow from the sole of the skier's boot.

  • Patent number: 5356168
Abstract: A snow board parking brake apparatus for holding a snow board at rest during the time a snow boarder is attaching or detaching the snow boarder's boots to or from the snow board bindings. A function of this invention is to make snow boarding more enjoyable by 1) holding the snow board member stable on the snow while the snow boarder is attaching or detaching the snow boarder's boots and snow board bindings; 2) removing snow build-up on the snow boarder's boot soles; 3) providing a convenient handle to hand carry the snow board when the snow boarder is walking; and 4) providing convenient rings to attach a carrying strap to put over the snow boarder's shoulder or a padlock and chain assembly for security during storage of the snow board member. The snow board parking brake apparatus includes 1) a basic support base assembly secured to the snow board member; and 2) a main parking brake assembly mounted on the basic support base assembly.

  • Patent number: 5172935
Abstract: A ski pole hand grip is provided with a straight edge for scraping ice and snow off of the surface of a goggle lens. The hand grip has a main body of conventional form with an upper and lower flange for preventing slippage of the skier's hand off of the ends of the hand grip. An extension made of the same material as the hand grip is integrally connected to the upper flange and extends in the rearward direction. The extension decreases in width and height in the rearward direction, terminating in a straight edge suitable for scraping ice and snow from the goggle lens. The straight edge has an acute angle profile. The hand grip with goggle scraper is a unitary piece made from plastic or rubber. Preferably the piece is formed by injection molding of a plastic material.

  • Patent number: 5147098
Abstract: A scraping device adhesively mounted on the top surface of a ski for removing ice and snow from the bottom surfaces of a ski boot. The scraping device, with a rectangular base supporting a plurality of vertical segments, symmetrically spaced, is molded from an elastomeric material having sufficient stiffness and elasticity to rotate horizontally under the compressive force of a ski boot. The top surface of each segment having a saw tooth or abrasive surface. The skier scraping the boot while asserting pressure on the scraper is able to remove ice and snow from the bottom surface of the boot.

  • Patent number: 4927176
Abstract: The present invention is a device for removing debris from the soles of ski boots prior to locking the ski boots in the bindings of skis. The device is a compact, low profile scraper mountable on the skis themselves. The scraper is formed of a molded plastic material having flexible properties at extremely cold temperatures. The scraper has slanting side surfaces with a single semi-cylindrical channel formed in the scraper body extending the full length of the scraper. The upper surface of the scraper has two narrow flat lip surfaces. The lip surfaces and the slanting side surfaces form blunt scraping edges. The single relatively large channel provides an efficient method of removing debris and also allowing the scraper body to flex about its longitudinal axis. The scraper is mounted on the ski so that channel is parallel to the longitudinal axis of the ski. The ability of the ski to flex about its longitudinal axis is not limited by the addition of the scraper.

  • Patent number: 4900061
Abstract: A snow removal device for use in conjunction with a runner of a ski assembly, which comprises a pedestal and a plurality of upright bristles. The pedestal is secured fixedly to the runner, while the bristles are affixed to the pedestal. In this manner, the pedestal at an inclined forward angle to the ski provides the necessary height to the bristles and the bristles provide maximum digging action to remove snow and ice while maintaining a smooth and easy motion of the boot. The bristles are fabricated of the proper designs and material to prevent filling with snow and ice and thereby avoid freezing solid or breaking during use. The pedestal is arranged in a transverse manner to the runner at a predetermined distance forward of the toe piece of the binding mechanism. Alternatively, the pedestal may be formed integral with the toe piece base plate or may be incorporated into a base plate onto which the top piece mounts. In this way, the removal snow is deposited away from the binding.
