Auxiliary Or Redundant Patents (Class 280/93.503)
  • Patent number: 8066292
Abstract: The invention relates to a steering device for a vehicle, with at least one actuator which pivots at least one steerable vehicle wheel by a steering angle which can be stipulated by way of a steering angle transducer. According to the invention, the actuator has a wheel-side pivoted part and an axle-side pivoted part which can be turned around their axes of rotation to one another and that to set the steering angle of the vehicle wheel, the wheel-side pivoted part can be deflected in the turning of the two pivoted parts by the swivel angle (?) relative to the axle-side pivoted part.

  • Patent number: 7661686
Abstract: A walk-substituting cart has a transverse rod secured to a chassis thereof, first and second sleeves secured on the transverse rod, first and second rotating shafts passed through the sleeves for connection to a handlebar device, a connecting rod, a front wheel on each side, and two transmission rods; the first sleeve is nearer to one side of the chassis while the second sleeve is right behind the middle of the front of the cart; the connecting rod is pivoted to the rotating shafts at two ends for passing on turning motion; each front wheel has a direction changing plate joined thereto, and the transmission rods are pivoted to respective direction changing plates, and pivoted to the second rotating shaft; therefore, the handlebar device can be located either right behind the middle of the front of the cart or nearer to a lateral side of the cart.

  • Publication number: 20080084110
Abstract: A rotatable grip (ancillary operation member) is provided on a part of a steering wheel body of a steering wheel (main operation member) for turning wheels. When the grip is rotated, a difference is generated between left and right wheels, and a yaw moment generated with this difference can assist or suppress the turning of a vehicle. Because the grip constitutes a part of the steering wheel body, it is possible to rotate the grip to assist or suppress the turning of the vehicle, while operating the steering wheel to turn the vehicle. Because both the steering wheel body and the grip can be operated by the same hand of a driver, operational burden on the driver is alleviated. Thus, it is possible to concurrently provide an excellent operability of the main operation member for controlling a kinetic state of the vehicle, and an excellent operability of the ancillary operation member for controlling the operation of a yaw moment generating device.

  • Publication number: 20060214409
Abstract: An input device 30A of an electric steering device 1 includes a pair of steering wheels 31A, 31B. When both the steering wheels 31A, 31B or one of the steering wheels 31A, 31B. is operated being rotated, front wheels 9 can be steered. Further, when both the steering wheels 31A, 31B or one of the steering wheels 31A, 31B is slid in the longitudinal direction of a vehicle, the front wheels 9 can be steered.

  • Patent number: 6655704
Abstract: The rack and pinion vehicle steering assembly has a steering rack slidably supported in a rack and pinion housing. An inner tie rod housing has a shank that screws into a threaded rack bore. A housing chamber receives an inner end ball and an open end of the housing chamber is crimped to retain the inner end ball. An inner support nut screws onto the steering rack and into contact with the tie rod housing. An inner support clamp has a central passage that receives an inner rod that is fixed to the inner end ball. Internal clamp threads on the clamp rim of the inner support clamp engage male threads on the inner support nut to retain the clamp and encase the tie rod housing and the inner end ball.

  • Patent number: 6481731
Abstract: The vehicle steering linkage connects a rack of a steering system to a knuckle. The steering linkage includes a tie rod, an inner ball joint and an outer connector assembly for transmitting steering forces between a rack and a knuckle. The outer connector assembly includes a primary connector and a secondary connector. The primary connector includes a socket in a socket member, a ball retained in the socket and a shank that is integral with the ball and secured to an arm of the knuckle. The secondary connector includes a slot in the socket member and a bolt. A bolt shank passes through the slot and screws into the arm. Upon failure of the primary connector, the secondary connector transmits steering forces to the arm.
