Abstract: A monolithic laminate identification card which contains at least two layers (26, 27) with different optical permeability or color. The adjoining joinable surfaces of these layers are provided with complementary, interlocking embossed and debossed formations (21, 22). Under transmitted light a sign or image corresponding to these embossed and debossed formations can be seen that has a different brightness or color from the rest of the card (25).
Abstract: This invention relates to a plastic identification card with an improved signature panel. There is a problem with existig credit cards in that the existing signature can be obscured by printing over with a patch of clay composition similar to that used to provide the original signature panel. A new signature can then be applied. This problem is overcome by providing a signature panel which is sandwiched between the core stock and a protective transparent film. The signature panel comprises a layer of chemicals reactive under the pressure of a signature to release a colored dye conforming with the signature.
Abstract: A transparent protective laminating film for forming a sealed protective cover on an identification card or similar document, comprising a base film of biaxially oriented thermoset polyester resin with an inner surface coating of polyethylene or other heat-and-pressure activated thermoplastic resin, has an additional outer surface layer of unoriented embossable thermoplastic polyester resin to permit embossure with a security pattern; the outer surface layer is also receptive to a signature strip formed by embossure, to a pigment signature strip or a resin-oxide magnetic strip applied by hot stamp transfer, or any combination of such strips.
