Abstract: Forecasting the likelihood of an earthquake comprises: determining a gas migration rate using measurements collected from measurement device(s). The measurement devices may be measuring changes in radon gas intensity. If the gas migration rate increases at greater than a first rate, determining a latent heat energy release rate; if the latent heat energy release rate increases at greater than a second rate, look for at least one transient outgoing long wave radiation (OLR) anomaly using measurements collected from remote sensing atmospheric thermodynamic measurement(s); if the transient outgoing long wave radiation (OLR) anomaly has been observed, look for at least one ionospheric anomaly using measurements collected from ionosphere measurement device(s); and if the at least one ionospheric anomaly has been observed, forecasting that an earthquake is likely to occur within one to four days from the observation of the at least one ionospheric anomaly.

Abstract: A bound system including a plurality of pages and a cover and/or divider including a bound outer edge and a plurality of free outer edges. The cover and/or divider may be bound to the plurality of pages along the bound edge. The cover and/or divider may include one or more discreet tabs extending generally outwardly relative to one of the edges. Each tab may be integrally formed from a single piece of material with the rest of the cover and/or divider. Each tab further may have an opening formed therethrough and is configured to receive at least part of a binding device therethrough to thereby couple the cover and/or divider to the binding device.

Abstract: An omniview contents display system which is a quick, at-a-glance system for locating sections of any book or magazine, providing the chapter and range of pages, as well as having an indicator line that visually guides the user-reader's eye to a chapter bar. The chapter bar is a block style marking on the edge of the pages opposite the binding that designates the exact location of the chapter or section within the book. The exact location of a chapter can be easily located despite the book or type of printed and bound media being in a closed condition. The chapters, page ranges, and indicator lines may be printed on the covers as well as on the inside pages at the outside margins and allows the reader-user to quickly locate any section of the book from an open or closed book condition.

Abstract: The folder is formed from a single sheet, folded along a fold line to form opposing walls. Each wall, at its top, includes a retaining portion that folds over a metal or plastic channel rod and includes a series of horizontally-spaced holes. The holes extend vertically over the lower edge or a rib of the channel rod. Each channel rod extends laterally past the edge of the folder and includes notches or hook ends that engage a pair of rails. Each tab includes a clip portion that opens downward. The clip portion includes two vertically-oriented inner faces, one or both of which includes inward-facing dimples or protrusions that fit at least partially into the holes in the retaining portion. At least one optional protrusion may be locating, meaning that the top of the protrusion does not engage the channel rod when the tab is fully attached.

Abstract: Transparent or substantially transparent sheets of paper or similar material suitable for inserting into a book or placed over a document are used to highlight or annotate a document without permanently marking or damaging the page. The inserts are thin enough so as to allow several inserts to be placed within a book without significantly increasing the book thickness or distorting the shape and size of the book when closed. Additionally, the inserts contain one or more tabs to allow a user to index and quickly find a particular insert and the corresponding page. An adhesive is present on the rear side of the insert to fix the insert to the page being annotated.

Abstract: A set of sheet dividers comprises a first plurality of sheet dividers, each divider comprising a sheet with a tab extending therefrom at a different location and for a first length along the same side as all other dividers in the first plurality; and a second plurality of sheet dividers, each divider comprising a sheet with a tab extending therefrom at a different location and for a second length along the same side as all other dividers in the second plurality, the second length being shorter than the first length, the second plurality being divided into subsets of dividers having their tabs adjacent one another and overlaid by the tab of a corresponding one of the first plurality of sheet dividers when the subset and corresponding one of the first plurality of sheet dividers are stacked together.

In one case the tab and body are unitary and made of a single piece of paper. In some embodiments an unbound set of tabbed sheets may be provided. In other embodiments the system further includes a front cover, a rear cover, and a binding mechanism binding the front cover, rear cover, and the one or more sheets of paper together. In this embodiment the one or more sheets of paper and/or the front cover and/or rear cover may be tabbed.

Abstract: A booklet with removable cards, together with a variety of systems, methods, and applications associated therewith. Embodiments can be incorporated into books, booklets, maps, catalogs, travel guides, schedules, and other printed information and materials. In one embodiment, the booklet comprises a travel guide having a plurality of information cards as pages. Each information card can provide information about a travel destination, language translation, cultural pointers, or other information. The cards are bound using a first ring fastener that can be opened by the reader so that one or more cards can be removed from the booklet, and carried in a wallet, on a second ring fastener, or as a second booklet, distinct from the main booklet.

Abstract: An integrated divider tab and tab labeling system is comprised of tabs at the bottom and side edges of bound material. Tabs are positioned and labeled to provide quick access to information of initial interest, then efficient maneuverability from one subject to another. Users of the system group information in general categories, then further organize each of the information groups into corresponding subgroups. Once each group and subgroup are labeled, the user saves time in finding and referring to information by following the natural thought process of first locating group, then subgroup. Thus a considerably more versatile divider tab system saves time both in compiling information and accessing it for productive use.

Abstract: A sticky note pad includes at least two stacks of sticky note sheets. Each sticky note sheet has a note-writing region, an index tab region projecting from a right lateral edge thereof, and a removable pressure sensitive adhesive layer provided on a bottom face thereof in proximity to a left lateral edge thereof. The index tab regions of the sticky note sheets of one of the stacks are staggered with respect to the index tab regions of the sticky note sheets of the other stack in a top-to-bottom direction, and are aligned to the same in a direction parallel to the lateral edges of the sticky note sheets. A glue layer binds the left lateral edges of the sticky note sheets of all the stacks. A partition sheet is adhered to the bottom face of a lowermost sticky note sheet of an upper stack.

Abstract: An indexing tab for stationery, of which the stationery is provided with an inserting portion for the indexing tab. The present invention is characterized in that the indexing tab has a snapping portion in a sheet pattern, which is inserted into the inserting portion of the stationery. A lateral flange is formed on one side of the snapping portion. A protruding portion is formed by the extension of the lateral flange of its snapping portion to define a first and a second end. The first end is linked to one side of the snapping portion. An identifier is linked to the second end of the protruding portion. The identifier can be protruded to provide visible classification and indexing effect, helping to improve the indexing function and convenience of the stationery.

In one embodiment, a file folder identification apparatus is described. The apparatus includes a base comprising a first coupling portion and a second coupling portion adapted to couple to a file folder, the second coupling portion opposing the first coupling portion, and a tab portion comprising a temporary fastener detachably and rotatably coupled to the second coupling portion and a face configured to retain identification information.

Abstract: A folded folder track with sliding tab either writable and/or channel tab which travels along the folded track area of the folder whereby the user can position the tab wherever it is needed along the top horizontal edge of the folder. This allows every tab in the filing system to be moved into a convenient, viewable position. Also, the user will be able to maintain the files in alpha numeric order without the tabs being hidden behind other tabs or without hiding other tabs which provides for quick and efficient retrieval of folders and the filing of folders. This folded folder track and writable tab will be of various lengths and colors to be of greater value for the user with multiple identification needs.

Abstract: An improved label sheet assembly and application kit including an optional liner sheet, a carrier strip, and a removably attached label facestock sheet. The application kit further includes a stacked group of tabbed sheets and an alignment guide. The label facestock sheet assembly includes a plurality of cut lines defining a perimeter of a plurality of facestock labels spaced from one another in an offset manner that substantially corresponds to a set of staggered tabs extending outwardly from a stacked group of divider sheets. The carrier strip is defined by a plurality of cuts having substantially the same shape as a portion of the perimeters of the facestock labels, but with slightly smaller dimensions as its respective label. The user may separate the carrier strip from the liner sheet, exposing an adhesive back of the precut labels and place and align the carrier strip across the divider sheets such that the precut labels are placed on the tabs of the divider sheets.

The adhesive adheres to the face sheet more than to the back sheet. A plurality of label shapes is cut within a remaining portion of the face sheet in a label column. A fold line extends across the label shapes in the label column. The fold line can be a printed line, a score line, a perforated line, and combinations thereof. The fold line divides each of the label shapes into a first portion and a second portion, where the first portion is larger than the second portion. The smaller second portion is folded back onto the first portion to form an index label for adhering to a separate page.

The divider comprises a panel, the panel comprising a binding edge and a plurality of non-binding edges, and a tab. The panel comprises at least one binding feature adjacent the binding edge and at least one tab mating feature adjacent at least first and second edges of the plurality of non-binding edges. The tab is configured to mate with the at least one tab mating feature. The at least one tab mating feature is configured such that the tab is positionable in at least two longitudinal positions along the first non-binding edge and in at least two longitudinal positions along the second non-binding edge.

Abstract: A document indexing system which enables the application of index tabs, to pages of a document mounted in a binder and which document is comprised of several pages. A sheet extender may be attached to certain pages which are to have an index tab on an opposite side margin so that the pages are easily visible and engageable by the fingers of a user. The invention is effective with pre-formed commercially available index tab divider pages.

Abstract: The reinforced file folder has a paper substrate which is reinforced with a breathable film having desirable properties with respect to wear. Preferably, the film is a cellulous based material adhered to the paper substrate in a manner that renders the product easily recycled. The cellulose film with a matte finished upper surface provides strong adhesion with file folder labels. The film preferably covers most of the outer surface of the front and back panels with the film applied either side of the labeling tab.

Abstract: A method for branding a multi-page document includes receiving a branding image, dividing the branding image into a plurality of sub-images, and distributing the plurality of sub-images over a respective plurality of pages of a multi-page document. The sub-images are distributed at or adjacent an edge of the prospective pages whereby when the respective pages of the multi-page document are bent in preparation to be flipped the sub-images appear as a reconstructed version of the branding image. A system for branding a document is also provided.

Abstract: The present invention is a book made of plural inner sheets with specific cutouts at specific locations at the open margin edge. Each sheet is colored or printed with different animal characters or graphic elements. The sheets are arranged and bound in such a way that when an user flips through this invention at specific location of the open edge, only specific pages after another are viewed. The specific pages are all designed with the same specific colors or the same graphic elements depending on which location of the open edge the user holds to flip through the pages. The appearance of the book changes by the user trying out different locations for flipping the edge.

Abstract: An index tab adapter, suitable for retrofitting an existing file folder for use with a particular index tab style. The adapter has adhesive portions, located on either side of a non-adhesive portion. The non-adhesive portion is slotted and is spaced apart from the file folder. The slots are shaped to engage a particular style of index tab, so that when a given index tab is inserted into the slots in the adapter, the given index tab becomes attached to the file folder, and the file folder may be identified by the given index tab as if it were originally configured to accept the style of the given index tab. Put another way, an index tab removably engages slots in the adapter, rather than slots in the file folder itself.

Abstract: A sheet divider may include a sheet stock having an edge and a tab. The tab may be disposed at the edge of the sheet stock and have an opening. The opening is configured to enable a label to be inserted into the tab from a direction that is substantially perpendicular to the edge of the sheet stock. For example, a label may be inserted into the tab from a direction of the sheet stock. In other words, a label may be inserted in a direction that is substantially perpendicular to the edge of the sheet stock. The tab may include a projecting portion that extends beyond the edge of the sheet stock and that is free of openings. A pocket may be formed in the projecting portion to receive a label. In addition, the projecting portion may be curvilinear in shape. The labels may be relatively large so that a proximal portion extends out of the tab. The sheet stock may include retaining structure for retaining the corners of the proximal portion of the label against the sheet stock.

According to the invention, an index notch or thumb section (31) is to be formed on the upper region of the pile, along the front edge (7). To this end, preferably a circular, disk-shaped cutter head (17) is used, the cutter head having a cutting contour (21) on the circumference thereof. The device includes at least one displacement device (19) for moving the support and the cutter head towards or away from each other, so that the notch or thumb section to be formed can be produced on the front edge by means of the cutter head. The height of the thumb index can be set by lowering the bearing surface.

Abstract: An index tab labeling system for use with suspended file folder of the type having vertical slots along an upper margin, the labeling system comprising a flexible index tab having a single layer of flexible material with lugs for insertion into the vertical slots in the file folder. A pad of labels is affixed to the index tab by a releasable adhesive. The pad of labels has multiple labels which are held to each other by releasable adhesive. The user may write index information on the uppermost label and when the index information requires changing, the uppermost label may be peeled off and the next label is made available for index information to be entered thereon. A pad of three labels is considered to be optimum. When all the labels in one pad are used, a new pad of labels may be releasably adhered to the index tab. In an alternative embodiment, each of the labels may be supplied with a portion that does not have a releasable adhesive applied to it.

In addition, top taps or side tabs are integrally formed with the file folder blank that can be printed with identifying indicia. Printed indicia is located on the tabs. The tabs are secured to the carrier by a non-aggressive adhesive allowing the tabs to be removed from the carrier relocated and/or removed again as required by the user of the device. Printed indicia may also be located on or beneath said carrier.

Abstract: A customized application of index tabs to dividers and other types of indexing material includes a releasably attachable alignment tool. The alignment tool includes a plurality of indicia printed thereon for guiding the placement of a desired number of index tabs. The indicia indicate by positioning of both numerals and lines where an index tab is to be placed on an indexing material, depending on the number of index tabs that are to be placed. The alignment tool may also be positioned on a sheet and removable from the sheet to align index tabs on different documents. The flexible indexing device can be manufactured simply, out of a single piece of starting material and one product can be used to replace the multiple products that previously would have been required for multiple storage configurations.

With the printed sheet in the pocket and the pocket and dividers assembled in a ringed notebook or other binding system, the sheet indicia and the pre-printed indicia line up with respective ones of the tabs. The indicia thereby form an attractive custom-designed table of contents, which can be easily corrected or changed by the user by simply printing and inserting into the pocket a new sheet. The front sheet can either be transparent or have a window to allow the sheet indicia to be viewed therethrough.

Abstract: An improved file folder specially adapted to conventional printers and optical scanners and a system and method for printing and using the improved folder. The improved folder has an enclosure for holding documents and printable panels with an integrated tab and integrated document labels. The folder panels, integrated tab and labels are printed with machine-readable identifying indicia and text in one pass through a standard printer. The tab is foldable such that folder identifying indicia and text are visible from either the front or back side of the folder. After printing, the documents labels are removeable and affixable to the folder documents. Images of the folder documents are captured with a standard optical scanner which also reads the document identifying indicia printed on the labels. The document images form a database indexed according to the indicia printed on the document labels.
