Patent number: 7832773Abstract: An invention generally relates to an adjustable connector that acts as a coupling device to connect an object (such as pipe or tubing) having a range of diameters and thread styles to an item (such as a piece of equipment or another length of pipe or tubing). The device is generally comprised of a casing member and an internal member, which is further comprised of tab members positioned in tab openings in a core member. Preferably, a semi-flexible sheath covers the internal member and seals it to the casing member and the object, so that a chamber is formed between the internal member and the casing member. Mechanical compression members may be placed in the chamber. As pressure increases within the object, the chamber pressure may also increase, forcing the sheath against the tab members, which are forced against the object, holding the object in place by friction.Type: GrantFiled: September 18, 2006Date of Patent: November 16, 2010Inventor: Kenneth P. Patent number: 6273475Abstract: A pipe coupling has an elastomer packing collar (5) arranged in a closable housing (4) with radial end walls (14) and comprising two axially spaced apart ring-shaped beads (6) which project radially inwards and sealingly lie against a pipe (1, 2). Each ring-shaped bead (6) subdivided into two adjacent radial beads (8, 9) by a ring-shaped gap (7) oriented at an acute angle to the longitudinal axis of the pipe coupling. This gap (7) forms at the outer radial bead (9) a sharp-cornered packing lip (10). The ring-shaped gap (7) may be closed by pressing together and elastically deforming the two adjacent radial beads (8, 9). Each front side (11) of the packing collar (5) is inclined inwards towards the longitudinal axis of the pipe coupling. A conical clamping ring (13) with a subdivided circumference, axially and radially supported on the housing (4), lies against the front side (11) of the packing collar (5).Type: GrantFiled: May 20, 1999Date of Patent: August 14, 2001Inventor: Peter Ilesic

Patent number: 5915732Abstract: A jar ticket includes a ticket body having first, second and third panels wherein the third panel is folded onto the second panel and the second panel is then folded onto the first panel to constitute a folded section of the ticket body. A wrapper body is then folded around the ticket body folded section. The wrapper body includes first, second and third panels. The second panel of the wrapper body is brought adjacent a first side of the folded section of the ticket body and the first and third panels of the wrapper body are folded over a second side of the folded section of the ticket body. A first layer of adhesive is disposed between the first and third panels of the wrapper body and a plurality of spaced perforations extend through the first and third panels of the wrapper body. Such a jar ticket has enhanced security. A jar ticket manufacturing machine for such a jar ticket is also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: May 1, 1997Date of Patent: June 29, 1999Assignee: Arrow International, Inc.Inventor: Jim Andrew Schaffnit

Patent number: 5911447Abstract: A pipe connector for attachment to a plain end pipe includes a housing (2) for location over the pipe end, an annular recess (4) formed in the inner surface of the housing, an inlet (10) for feeding a fluid under pressure into the recess, a sealing ring (6) in the recess, having at least three arcuate gripper elements (14) bonded thereto, the gripper elements having aligned recesses at the radially inward surfaces in which an O-ring seal (16) is mounted. After a pipe end is placed within the housing, fluid is pumped into the annular space (8) between the housing and seal ring (6), which pushes the seal ring and attached gripper elements radially inwardly to engage the pipe, the O-ring seal (16) forming a tight seal against the pipe. The plurality of gripper elements can conform to a pipe which is not perfectly round.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 1996Date of Patent: June 15, 1999Inventor: Daniel Graham Ball

Patent number: 5791698Abstract: A coupling for securing a plastic pipe. The coupling has a rigid hollow coupling shell with a passageway through it. A rigid stiffener tube is positioned internally of the shell, the stiffener tube having an external diameter slightly less than the internal diameter of the pipe. The stiffener tube has an external circumferential groove spaced from its outer end. A toroidal elastomeric seal is positioned within the stiffener tube circumferential groove. When a pipe end portion is inserted into the coupler shell, the stiffener tube extends telescopically within the interior of the pipe end portion and the seal engages the interior of the pipe to seal the interior of the pipe to the interior of the stiffener tube. A rigid gripper positioned within the coupler shell engages the exterior surface of the pipe and prevents the pipe from being extracted from the coupler shell.Type: GrantFiled: January 17, 1997Date of Patent: August 11, 1998Assignee: Continental Industries, Inc.Inventors: Donald W. Patent number: 5692784Abstract: A tubing joint having a long life span, in which stress concentration can be avoided even if external force from the tube repeatedly works on the ring claw. In the tubing joint of the present invention, the ring claw is formed into a zigzag shape with outer notch sections and inner notch sections. The ring claw has a plurality of outer ring sections, a plurality of inner ring sections, each of which is provided between adjacent outer ring sections, and a plurality of connecting sections, each of which connects an end of the inner ring section with an end of the outer ring section. The outer notch sections are substantially formed into a U-shape, and inner edges of adjacent connecting sections, which mutually face and form each U-shaped outer notch section, are arranged parallel and substantially perpendicular to the outer edge of the ring claw.Type: GrantFiled: May 30, 1996Date of Patent: December 2, 1997Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha Nihon PiscoInventors: Tomio Hama, Kiyoyasu Yamazaki
