  • Patent number: 5108132
Abstract: A split spacer for flange fittings is disclosed which is in the form of a flat disc-shaped ring of predetermined thickness bisected along its diameter to form two separate identical semi-circular segments. In one embodiment on O-ring is installed in a groove on the circumference of the spacer which allows the spacer segments to be manually pulled part in opposed direction for installation on a coupling flange and when released, the segments assume a complete circular configuration. In another embodiment, the two segments are magnetized such that they are held the circular configuration by magnetic attraction. The segments are positioned in their engaged ring configuration on the bearing surface of a flange having one thickness such that the combined thickness will engage the bearing shoulder of a flange connector configured to normally connect flanges of a different thickness.

  • Patent number: 5082315
Abstract: A metallic or plastic nipple which has an annular external recess adjacent a circumferentially complete annular retaining rib can be separably connected to an end portion of a flexible hose by a coupling employing a sleeve having a tubular section which is receivable in the end portion of the hose. The sleeve is further provided with a set of elastic prongs which slope toward the axis of the sleeve and extend into the recess adjacent the retaining rib when the nipple is inserted into the sleeve. A permanently deformable or repeatedly expansible and contractible discrete clamping member is applied around the end portion of the hose to maintain such end portion in sealing engagement with the tubular section of the sleeve. The prongs can be integral with the tubular section or with a second section of the sleeve. The second section is form-lockingly or otherwise affixed to the tubular section.

  • Patent number: 5056828
Abstract: A modular multi-passage rotary coupling for transferring fluids in which pipes are rigidly connected with the inner fixed rings of the relevant modules by sleeves. The sleeves, after being coaxially butt-fastened at their bottom end with the pipes, enter proper bores specifically provided in the relevant fixed rings, inside which each of them is fastened under pressure by means of a closure and tight-sealing screw-threaded cap which is screwed down on a corresponding inner threading provided at the upper end of the relevant sleeve and urging, with the crown of its head, against the upper edge of the bore and also by a shoulder step jutting out at the bottom end of the sleeve and cooperating with the lower edge of the bore of the fixed ring.

  • Patent number: 5028078
Abstract: A flareless fitting includes a coupling body, a coupling nut and a ferrule. A tube is inserted so that it may extend axially inwardly a variable insertion length beyond the ferrule, through the length of a counterbore which is slip fit about the tube. Tightening of the coupling nut and the tapered arrangement causes the ferrule to be sealed between the tube outer wall and the internal cylindrical surface of the coupling body. Specifically, a single tube fitting system is provided which offers substantial tube penetration, or shallow tube penetration, without using two different kinds of fittings.

  • Patent number: 4966395
Abstract: A coupling for either rigidly or flexibly connecting the adjacent ends of a pair of aligned pipes, is formed of a circular casing made of a pair of aligned, semi-circular segments which surround a resilient pipe gasket. The opposite ends of the segments have radially outwardly extending lugs which form pairs of overlapping fastening lugs. The lugs of at least one pair each have transversely aligned bolt holes and opposed sockets that are generally concentric with the bolt holes and open towards each other. A bolt extending through the sockets and bolt holes fasten the lugs together and cause the segments to clamp radially inwardly towards the pipes for coupling the pipes together with some permissible flexibility of relative movement. A plug having opposite end portions and a central bolt hole is removably fitted within the opposed lug sockets, with the bolt extending through its central bolt hole.
