Abstract: A fuel line adaptor for application to a conventional fuel tank and to the fuel line leaving from the fuel tank. The adaptor includes a housing which has a passageway that leads from the outlet opening of the fuel tank to a drain opening which is closed by a removable drain plug. A feed tube extends through the housing. One end of the feed tube extends above the sludge and water line within the tank and has an inlet opening. The outer end of the feed tube extends through the housing and is operatively connected to the fuel line. A seal is formed between the tube and the housing to prevent sludge and water from reaching the fuel line.

  • Patent number: 4669757
Abstract: A tubular conduit assembly for conveying a pressurized fluid is described which includes a plastic inner tube for conveying the pressurized fluid, and a flexible metal outer tube disposed coaxially around the inner tube. The outer tube is constructed from a plurality of interlocking, generally channel-shaped members. In one form of the present invention, the outer tube is comprised of two alternately facing, U-shaped metal strips which are helically wound together and slidably engaged. A predetermined radial separation is provided between the exterior diameter of the inner tube and the interior diameter of the outer tube. This predetermined separation permits a limited amount of expansion for the inner tube while resisting a blowout at normally high pressures and temperatures. While the conduit assembly is initially flexible to facilitate routing, one or more portions of the conduit assembly may be made less flexible, semi-rigid or rigid in order to retain a desired shape of the conduit assembly.

Abstract: The object of the invention is to provide a coupling for fluid conveying ducts which has built in capability to allow for radial and/or angular misalignment of the ducts which it is coupling and also retain axial flexibility. Such coupling includes a pair of interconnectable coupling half assemblies each with eccentric openings (17) for passage of one of the tube ends (10) therethrough with their associated ends in spaced relation. These coupling half assemblies also may include abutting faces disposed in a plane (P) oblique to their longitudinal centerline (C). Relative adjustment of the eccentric openings (17) provides radial adjustment of the tubes (10) while relative adjustment of the coupling half assembly faces along the plane (P) provides angular adjustment of the tubes (10). Any combination of axial, radial, and/or angular misalignment of the tubes (10) within the dimensional envelope of the coupling can be accommodated by manipulation of the parts relative to each other.

  • Patent number: 4427218
Abstract: In a device for interconnecting respective ends of two conduits a male connecting piece (2) is fixed on the end of one of conduits and provided on its outer periphery with annular ridges (4), while a female connecting piece is fixed to the end of the other conduit and comprises, in succession, as viewed from its end opening, a first cylindrical annular portion (5), a convergent frustoconical portion (6) and a divergent frustoconical portion (7) which is connected to a second cylindrical portion. A spherical ring member (10) slidably mounted on male connecting piece (2) engages the cylindrical portion (5) and the convergent frustoconical portion (6) of female connecting piece (3) and is subjected to a longitudinal force, so as to be locked on male connecting piece (2) under the effect of plastic deformation. This device can be used for connecting large diameter pipes used for transporting high pressure fluids, particularly in submarine installations.

Abstract: A flange union is disclosed which is provided with opposed recessed female seats carried by the terminal inner ends of the flange members. A replacable sealing ring having an annular convex sealing surface is positioned between the annular cooperating sealing surfaces of the female seats. The configuration of the sealing surfaces is such that an annular metal-to-metal line seal of minimum surface area is formed closely adjacent the internal diameter of the bore. This results in the need for markedly less stress and strain on the flange bolts to achieve and maintain the sealing pressure. The flange union will seal effectively with the flange members being either in or out of alignment.

Abstract: A three-axis wrist mechanism has three independent rotational axes with a point of mutual intersection. A stationary housing contains one of the axes while another axis is disposed in a tool support member. An intermediate axis is disposed in an intermediate housing. A plurality of gear trains provide the independent rotation of components about the three axes to permit selective positioning of a tool mounting surface within a substantially hemispherical envelope. The gear trains are arranged so that an unobstructed gear passage is maintained between the stationary base and the tool support member for accommodating hoses and/or wires which are used to transmit fluid and power to a tool mounted on the mounting surface of the tool support member.

  • Patent number: 4341050
Abstract: A masonry construction module is provided which possesses versatility in the formation of various types of structures. The module has corrugations on all of its side walls which interfit complementally with the corrugations of adjacent modules in a horizontal course, thus rendering the courses of modules self-aligning and interlocked. The opposite ends of the module are respectively recessed and step projected to promote self-alignment and interlocking with modules in courses above and below. Sloping end shoulder surfaces shed water and form a barrier to water, sight and sound. The modules are designed to be laid up without mortar but can be laid up with mortar if desired and core openings can accept concrete reinforced with metal or the like to integrate structures. The corrugated side surfaces also provide ideal adhesion with stucco and the like.
