  • Patent number: 7418770
Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus for securing couplings or fittings to the ends of hose of the type that has a smooth cylindrical interior and a spiral-reinforcing bead in conjunction with a more flexible hose body. The present invention relates to a segmented binding strip that is molded or cast in a generally opened or flat condition and is subsequently wrapped around the hose thus forming a generally cylindrical shape to fit the circumference of the hose when installed. Each segment is relatively rigid but is articulated or hinged to adjacent segments with a thinner hinge section allowing the entire binding strip to be bent in a circular form as it is wrapped around the hose. Once wrapped around the hose the binding strip is secured or bound to retain the coupling or fitting to the hose.

  • Patent number: 7267373
Abstract: On the inner surface of a rubber hose body 12, a laminated hard resin layer 14 is formed to constitute a barrier layer that is impermeable to fluids. A clamping connection is made to hose 10 by a clamping member 24, which clamps the hose body to a companion pipe 18 when the companion pipe is inserted into the hose body. The layer 14 is not laminated over the entire axial length of the hose body but instead leaves an end part exposed. An annular groove is formed at the end 36 of the layer 14 abutting the end part of the hose 10. An elastic impermeable material is placed in the groove which is compressed by the pipe upon insertion. The companion pipe 18 has a protuberance 22 which rests at a position between the end 36 of resin layer 14 and the clamping member so that a seal is formed by elastic compression of the outer surface of companion pipe 18 against the end part of the hose.

  • Patent number: 7090255
Abstract: A clamp locator for hose assemblies is provided. The clamp locator includes releasable connections for holding hose clamps during assembly of a hose to a hose fitting. The releasable connections comprise generally elastic fingers that hold the clamps to the locator. As the hose clamps are crimped and closed over the hose the clamps are pulled from the fingers and released from the locator. The locator includes a reference locating tab protruding from the body of the locator. The tab corresponds to a reference locating groove in a fitting to which the hose is to be attached. The locator, with clamps attached, is first slid over an end of the hose and the fitting is inserted into the hose end. A ramp on the fitting leads the tab to the groove in the fitting as the fitting is inserted into the hose end. The tab will snap into the groove, indicating that the hose, fitting and clamps are properly aligned. The clamps are then crimped over the hose and the locator released for proper disposal.
