Abstract: An apparatus for blocking discharge from a flanged pipe coupling, including a strap configured to surround, and cover a gap between flanges. The apparatus includes a tensioning mechanism with a lever pivotally coupled to the strap, a clamp pin mounted on the opposing end of the strap, and an adjustment pin on a side of the clamp pin opposite the lever. Holes extend through ends of the clamp and adjustment pins. The tensioning mechanism includes a bolt having ends, and a mid-portion looped around the lever, so that portions of the bolt on opposing ends of the mid-portion are generally parallel and project through the holes. A fastener is mounted onto each bolt end on a side of the adjustment pin opposite the clamp pin. When the lever pivots away from the clamp pin, contact between the lever and bolt urges the ends of the strap together, increasing tension therein.

  • Publication number: 20120025519
Abstract: An embodiment of the present invention relates to a connector used to connect pipes for conveying a fluid, and more particularly, to a plastic male screw connector which is manufactured through injection molding to replace a conventional screw connector made of a costly metallic material with an injecting-molded plastic screw connector so that the manufacturing costs can be reduced. According to the plastic male screw connector manufactured through injection molding according to the embodiment of the present invention, advantages are provided in that, since a screw connector for connecting pipes is manufactured through injection molding of a plastic material, mass production of the screw connector becomes possible and the manufacturing costs can be significantly reduced. Also, because the screw connector is made of the plastic material, excellent pressure resistance with respect to a high pressure, corrosion resistance with respect to a fluid used, and friction resistance can be accomplished.

  • Patent number: 5220811
Abstract: A muffler tube for use in a hermetically sealed compressor is disclosed. The muffler tube of the present invention has a roughened outer finish, and has a protuberance extending radially outwardly therefrom, which protuberance is received in a recess in the inner wall of the muffler. The combination of the roughened outer finish and the protuberance connection assist in preventing the muffler from turning on the tube, and from moving vertically on the tube.

  • Patent number: 4898494
Abstract: A drainage system for location adjacent a pavement subbase includes a tube of a geotextile fabric supported by a self-sustaining water-porous plastic support. An end of the fabric tube and its encased support are compressively received in the flared open end of an outlet connected to a conventional drainpipe. The outlet includes a plurality of projections which trap the fabric tube between the support and the outlet, so as to securely retain it therein. The outlet also preferably includes a plurality of circular beads over which a corrugated drain tube can be frictionally slipped. Alternatively, the outlet can be configured as a flat union or T-shaped junction joining one or more upstream fabric tube-and-support filters with a downstream outlet constructed from an identical fabric tube and support. The downstream outlet can also be in the form of a union for connecting two or more upstream fabric tube-and-support filters in addition to having means for connecting to a drainpipe or the like.

  • Patent number: 4875714
Abstract: Plastic, such as polyolefin, pipe having a locking integral end connection. The pipe is fabricated with male and female end connections in order that the pipe may be press-fitted together with the interior and exterior forming a flush uninterrupted surface. One or more radial ribs and grooves are formed on the interior of the female connection while a registering series of ribs and grooves are formed on the exterior of the male connection. The ribs and grooves are of an interfitting axially extending wedge shaped configuration to provide a locking engagement to resist any tendency for separation. Interfitting corners of the ribs and grooves may be rounded to distribute stress and minimize damage when the pipe ends are fitted together.

Abstract: Flexible convoluted tubing is made of an elastomeric material in desired lengths in which one end has convolutions with a configuration different from the convolutions at the other end. This enables the ends of each length to be interlocked in order to form a continuous closed hose. Alternatively separate lengths of tubing can be joined by interlocking one end of each length of tubing to the dissimilar end of another length of tubing.

  • Patent number: 4850533
Abstract: The present invention relates to a telescopic drinking straw or double sucking tube in which a synthetic resin tube section having a smaller diameter is inserted into a synthetic resin tube section having a larger diameter. In the sucking tube, a flange which is in tight contact with the inner surface of the larger tube section is formed on the smaller tube section, while a convex portion supporting the smaller tube section is formed on the inside of the larger tube section. Both the larger and smaller tube sections are produced from materials having different compositions from one another, so that leakage of fluid from a joint portion of the larger and smaller tube sections as well as shaky motion of the smaller tube section are prevented by these arrangements.

The pipe is fabricated with male and female end connections in order that the pipe may be press-fitted together with the interior and exterior forming a flush uniterrupted surface. One or more radial ribs and grooves are formed on the interior of the female connection while a registering series of ribs and grooves are formed on the exterior of the male connection. The ends of the pipe are bevelled in order that the ends pressed together engage and by the slight resiliency of the polyolefin pipe construction permit the slight expansion and contraction of the ends to provide a locking interfit of the respective ribs and grooves in the two ends. The wall thicknesses of the end connection and width of the ribs and grooves are particularly dimensioned in order that the male end may be inserted to a complete lock position without premature engagement and that should failure occur, it be at the readily observable pipe wall rather than in internal rib.
