  • Patent number: 11255472
Abstract: The invention concerns a coupling for use in forming a sealed joint between first and second tubular members. The coupling provides a through-passage defined by an inner coupling face and having a first open end for insertion of the first tubular member into a first region of the through-passage and a second open end for insertion of the second tubular member into a second region of the through-passage. A first inwardly directed engagement recess is provided in the inner coupling face in the first region of the through-passage and a second inwardly directed engagement recess is provided in the inner coupling face in the second region of the passage. In the assembled joint, the first inwardly directed engagement recess aligns with a first outwardly directed engagement recess of the first tubular member to form a first channel for receipt of a first retainer to secure the first tubular member in the coupling.

  • Patent number: 11015745
Abstract: A tube joint includes a first member and a second member. The first member has a bore defining an inner diameter. The second member has a first outer surface defining a first outer diameter with two or more helical protrusions extending radially from the first outer diameter. The two or more helical protrusions collectively define a second outer diameter. The second outer diameter of the second member is larger than the inner diameter of the first member by an amount sufficient to center and retain the second member within the bore of the first member. Brazed tube joint assemblies and methods of making brazed tube joints are also described.

  • Patent number: 8991869
Abstract: A method for forming a fluid tight seal is disclosed. The method may make use of a first component having a first sealing surface, and a second component having a second sealing surface. The method may further involve coating one of the first and second sealing surfaces with a metallic film layer adapted to transform into a liquefied metallic layer when a temperature of one of the first and second surfaces exceeds a melting temperature of a metal used to form the metallic film layer. Once it becomes liquefied, the liquefied metallic layer forms a pressure-tight seal between the sealing surfaces.

  • Publication number: 20150014989
Abstract: The invention provides a connector assembly for interconnecting tubular elements. The connector assembly comprises at least one pin member, at least one box member, and for each box member a respective coating layer. Each pin member has a threaded outer surface and each box member has a threaded inner surface allowing the pin member and the box member to be screwed together. Herein the respective coating layer is positioned between the threaded surfaces of the pin member and the box member. Each coating layer is of a softer material than said threaded surfaces. The connector assembly further comprises means for removing excess coating material during make up of the pin member and the box member.

  • Patent number: 8317233
Abstract: A coupling apparatus that may have a first component having a first sealing surface and a second component having a second sealing surface. The first and second sealing surfaces are in facing relationship with one another when the first and second components are coupled together. One of the first and second sealing surfaces has a metallic film layer that transforms into a liquefied metal layer when the metallic film layer is exposed to a temperature that exceeds a melting temperature of a metal from which the metallic film layer is formed. The liquefied metal layer forms a seal between the sealing surfaces.

  • Patent number: 6918617
Abstract: A soldered feed-through device that is inserted into a bulkhead opening has one or more sets of laterally protruding and symmetrically distributed teeth that cut through the bulkhead material as the feed-through is inserted into the bulkhead opening. The teeth automatically center the feed-through device within the bulkhead opening and resist tilting of the feed-through and its through-hole conductor so that application of solder to the area between the feed-through and the inner periphery of the opening produces a solder joint having uniform radial thickness of preferably about 0.14 mm (0.0055 in.).

  • Patent number: 6230747
Abstract: A pipe (40) having a specific length is filled with nitrogen gas (4a). From opening ends of connecting portions (42, 42) located at respective ends of the pipe (40), cross sectionally hat-shaped block plugs (50) made of brazing material are pressed into the connecting portions (42, 42) respectively and are fitted thereto for the purpose of sealing the pipe (40).
