Abstract: A pipe joint in which a seal body and a spacer are mounted from the insides of pipes, wherein: a spigot of one pipe is inserted into a socket of the other pipe; and an annular accommodation space is formed between the inner circumference of the socket and the outer circumference of the spigot. Inside the accommodation space are accommodated: a seal body for sealing the gap between the socket and the spigot; a push ring that presses the seal body to keep the seal body in a compressed state; and a spacer that maintains the interval between the push ring and the deep end of the socket in the pipe axial direction.
Abstract: A seal assembly is configured for use at PVCO pipe junctions. The seal assembly includes a main seal body made of a monolithic resilient material, such as rubber, and a stiffener. The seal has a stiffener pocket sized and configured to accept the stiffener, such that the stiffener can be assembled to the seal body by hand. This assembly can then be installed into the bell end of a first PVCO pipe, and a spigot end of a second PVCO pipe may then be inserted into the bell end and engaged with a main sealing lobe of the seal assembly. The seal assembly is configured to reliably withstand the insertion process, without damage or degradation to the sealing structures. Once installed, the seal assembly provides a robust fluid-tight seal along all potential leak paths between the seal assembly and the first and second pipes.

Abstract: There is provided a gap sub-assembly for electrically isolating an upstream portion of a drill string from a downstream portion of the drill string. The gap sub-assembly includes a first sub; a second sub; and a non-conductive isolation between the first sub and the second sub, the non-conductive isolation being interposed between respective shoulders of the first sub and the second sub and being interposed between respective threads of a male end of the first sub and a female end of the second sub, the non-conductive isolation comprising an insulative wrapping between at least the respective threads of the first and second subs, wherein connecting the female end of the second sub to the male end of the first sub over the insulative wrapping electrically isolates the respective threads of the first and second subs. A method for assembling such a gap sub-assembly is also provided.

Abstract: A braze-free connector suitable for use in a refrigeration system that includes a connector body having a circular opening passing therethrough. The opening has a converging section that tapers downwardly from the entrance to the opening toward the back of the opening. A ferrule is slidably mounted upon a refrigerant tube which is inserted into the opening to place a tapered collapsible section of the ferrule in contact with the tapered section of the opening. The non-collapsible section of the ferrule is keyed to a nut which in turn is mated with a male thread formed on the connector body whereby the collapsible section of the ferrule is forced into engagement with the refrigerant tube. A pressure sensitive sealant is pre-coated upon at least the collapsible section of the ferrule which is activated as the ferrule is forced into engagement with the refrigerant tube.
