Abstract: A fluid distribution pipe includes an elongate tubular body and a spherical end form integral with the tubular body at an inlet end. The spherical fluid connection end of the fuel rail is formed by plastic deformation. A series of tools and motions is used while the tubing of the fuel rail is clamped in place to form the spherical end form at the inlet end of the tubing. The resulting spherical end form provides the necessary geometry and surface finish to provide a successful seal and flexible connection of the fuel rail with a fuel line with significant cost advantages over current prior art methods.

Abstract: A joint includes a joint main body, a sleeve and a nut. The joint main body has a joining hole and an external threaded part. The nut is threaded onto the external threaded part in a threaded state in which the pipe and the sleeve are inserted through the joining hole. The nut joins the pipe to the joining hole via the sleeve. The sleeve is tightly fitted to the pipe and the joining hole by the threading of the nut to induce deformation that expands radially outward. The deformation prevents insertion of the sleeve into the joining hole to a specific position in an unthreaded state in which the pipe and the sleeve have been pulled out from the joining hole.

Abstract: A pipe coupling assembly including a fitting having an opening surrounded by an inwardly facing conical surface. A pipe element has an end portion with an outwardly facing conical surface that fits within the opening and engages the inwardly facing conical surface. A shoulder is positioned on the pipe element. A retaining ring surrounds the pipe element and engages the shoulder. A fastener connects the retaining ring to the fitting. The fastener is adjustably tightenable to draw the retaining ring toward the fitting and force the pipe end portion into engagement with the fitting. One or more seals may be positioned between the engaged conical surfaces. The seal may be made of graphite for high temperature applications. An adapter ring that fits between the pipe and the fitting is also disclosed. The adapter ring has conical surfaces that engage the conical surfaces of the pipe and the fitting.

The coupling is provided with a centrally located interlocking, doubled-up mechanical mechanism, comprised of two mechanisms, where each mechanism performs its intended function in sequence to connect the two pieces of the coupling body, and to secure the coupling to the ends of two pipes simultaneously. The first part of the doubled up mechanism includes two main radial flanges on the inner end of each piece of the coupling body which are held together face to face between secondary radial flanges by means of fasteners extending between the secondary radial flanges. The second part of the doubled up mechanism includes a cylindrical cover having intermittent inner radial shoulders which are interlockable upon rotation of the cylindrical cover with radial flange shoulders positioned intermittently around the main radial flanges.

Abstract: The invention concerns a connection between a largely rigid pipeline and a flexible conduit element by means of a steel nipple, reaching with its one end into the pipeline and with its opposite end into the flexible conduit element, wherein the flexible conduit element is secured to the nipple by means of a clamping sleeve. The basic problem, to configure a flow-favorable connection between a rigid pipeline and a flexible conduit element so that a compact tie-in of the flexible conduit element is possible without the materials being affected by the type of connection technique, is solved in that the pipeline in the segment receiving the nipple and the clamping sleeve are subjected to magnetic pulse shaping coils to reduce a cross section thereof and the pipeline and the nipple have substantially the same inner diameter.

Abstract: A tube fitting that uses only two components, namely a fitting body and a fitting nut. The nut and body are adapted to be threadably coupled together by relative rotation therebetween. The nut includes an integral tube gripping ring that cooperates with a camming surface on the body when the fitting is made-up. The camming surface preferably has a steep camming angle. The ring is radially compressed against the tube outer wall to form a seal and a tight tube grip. The ring also forms a line contact-type seal against the camming surface. The ring is designed to have a hinging action and to plastically deform during pull-up to embed into the tubing for excellent tube grip, and an axially adjacent swage or collet zone that isolates any stress riser resulting from the embedding action from vibration effects. The fitting components, and particularly the ring, may be case hardened, the fitting may include a self-gauging feature to indicate sufficient pull-up to prevent excessive pull-up.
