The annular main body portion has inner and outer diameters approximately equal to inner and outer diameters, respectively, of the plain end of the pipe. An outwardly directed flange extends from the annular main body portion around a periphery and has an outer diameter greater than the outer diameter of the plain end of the pipe. The flange is sufficiently flexible so that it bends into an angle of approximately ninety degrees with the flat surface of the annular main body portion and aids the main body portion in masking the plain end of the pipe as it passes through the annular gasket.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 2008Date of Patent: September 7, 2010Inventor: Steven K. Patent number: 7776018Abstract: A luer connector assembly is provided for enhancing the frictional engagement between medical devices such as syringes and needle assemblies. The assembly needle includes a female luer fitting having a passageway and a relatively soft, resilient member bounding the passageway. The passageway is also bounded by the body of the fitting, which is harder than the soft, resilient member. A male luer fitting inserted into the passageway engages both the soft, resilient member and the body of the female luer fitting. A method of manufacturing such a connector assembly is further provided. A first material is injected into a mold to form the body of a female luer fitting, the fitting including a passageway and a recess extending into the body. A second material is then injected such that it extends into the recess and bounds the passageway. The second material, when cool, is softer than the first material.Type: GrantFiled: October 19, 2007Date of Patent: August 17, 2010Assignee: Becton, Dickinson and CompanyInventors: Charles L. Publication number: 20100078937Abstract: A combination sealing and restraint system for an as-cast ductile iron fitting is shown for both sealing and preventing separation of an iron pipe fitting and a mating male pipe. A ring-shaped body is installed within a mating groove provided in a mouth region of the as-cast fitting after the fitting has been cast at the manufacturing plant. The ring-shaped body is formed of an injection molded elastomeric material and carries a series of gripping segments which have teeth on an inner surface thereof which are designed to engage an outer surface of a mating male pipe. The teeth are oriented to allow movement of the male pipe in a first direction relative to an end opening o f the fitting during assembly, but to resist movement in a opposite direction after the fitting joint has been assembled. The gripping segments are mechanically bonded to the elastomeric body of the gasket during the injection molding operation.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 29, 2009Publication date: April 1, 2010Applicant: S & B Technical Products, Inc.Inventors: Jim Jones, Gerardo Darce, Randall Chinchilla, Bradford G. Publication number: 20090256357Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of sealing an opening in a tubular body (1), comprising at least one through channel (3) extending in the longitudinal direction of the body, an opening (7) of the channel being formed in respective end surface (5) of the body. The method is characterized in that a sealing plug (15) is inserted in the opening (7) and is positioned far enough into the channel (3) that when a stamping tool (19) with an outer diameter which is greater than the inner diameter of the opening (7) is applied perpendicularly to the end surface (5) and concentrically to the opening (7), the portion of the end surface (5) constituting the periphery of the opening (7) is deformed plastically and is pressed into the channel (3) to form a shoulder (21) outside the sealing plug (15) with an inner diameter which is less than the outer diameter of the sealing plug (15).Type: ApplicationFiled: April 9, 2009Publication date: October 15, 2009Applicant: SAPA PROFILER ABInventor: Peter HUSBERG

Patent number: 7562912Abstract: The duct mating assembly includes a first duct having connected side members that define an interior air space. The side members include inner and outer surfaces. The first duct extends from a first end to a second end and the first end is offset relative to the second end. A second duct includes connected side members that define an interior air space. The side members include inner and outer surfaces. The second duct terminates at a connection opening. The first and second ducts are operative to couple with each other. The first duct is positioned within the connection opening of the second duct when coupled thereby defining an air gap between the first and second ducts. At least one of the side members of the first duct includes a projection portion formed thereon. The projection portion extends outward a distance to create a uniform sized air gap between the first and second ducts.Type: GrantFiled: February 7, 2006Date of Patent: July 21, 2009Assignee: Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America, Inc.Inventors: N. Publication number: 20080303220Abstract: An sealing gasket is shown for use in forming joints of plastic pipe. The gasket has a bulbous region which is bisected by a planar region which forms a pair of oppositely extending wing-like flaps. These features of the gasket allow it to be more reliably seated on the working mandrel used to bell a female, thermoplastic pipe end. The wing-like flap portions of the gasket form wiper surfaces for a subsequently installed male, spigot pipe end as the joint is formed.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 6, 2008Publication date: December 11, 2008Inventors: Gerardo Darce, Randall Chinchilla
