  • Patent number: 11075106
Abstract: A transfer device can have a high durability and no limit in an operation of an arm member. An electrostatic pick 44 of a first transfer device 17 is advanced into a process module 12, and a wafer W is electrostatically attracted to and held on the electrostatic pick 44. While the wafer W is being transferred into a load lock module 14 by driving the first transfer device 17, the electrostatic pick 44 is turned into an electrically floating state, so that a state in which the wafer W is electrostatically attracted to and held on the electrostatic pick 44 is maintained. After the transferring of the wafer W to the load lock module 14 is completed, charges of the electrostatic pick 44 are neutralized, so that the wafer W is not electrostatically attracted to and held on the electrostatic pick 44.

Abstract: Fluidic coupling assemblies include a fitting body having a single integral piece or separable pieces such as male and female fittings such as luer fittings. The assemblies further comprise a rotatable fastening assembly having a drive collar and a driven member, and at least one resilient member having a spring bias that defines a threshold torque of the rotatable fastening assembly. The spring bias may be directed axially or radially with respect to the longitudinal axis of the fluidic coupling assembly. The resilient member is configured to prevent overtightening of the fluidic coupling assembly by allowing the drive collar to rotate the driven member only when less than a threshold torque is applied. Rotation of the rotatable fastening assembly imparts a compressive force on the resilient member, and the resilient member yields when the compressive force exceeds the spring bias of the resilient member.

  • Patent number: 4842309
Abstract: A quick-connect fitting assembly is disclosed for releasably connecting a pair of fluid conduits in fluid communication with one another. A socket portion on one of the fluid conduits is adapted for receiving the other fluid conduit inserted longitudinally into the socket portion. A laterally-extending protuberance on the inserted fluid conduit is longitudinally restrained by a retaining assembly generally adjacent the fluid socket, with the retaining assembly including one or more resilient spring of barb members longitudinally interlocked with the inserted fluid conduit. A pair of collar members are longitudinally interconnectable with one another, either by a threaded engagement or by a "bayonet-type" engagement, to releasably restrain the assembly in a connected condition.

  • Patent number: 4754820
Abstract: A drilling head with an upper body assembly removably clamped onto a stationary spool via a bayonet-type coupler clamp rotated into clamped and unclamped positions by a remote controlled hydraulic motor connected to the clamp by a ring and pinion gear. The upper body assembly has a kelly bushing, a corrugated drive bushing rotatable with the kelly bushing, a drive ring rotatable with the drive bushing a bearing assembly surrounding the drive ring, and an elastomeric stripper connected to the drive ring for rotation therewith. The stripper is adapted for sealing engagement with a rotating kelly drive which slides down through the drilling head. Quick connect/disconnect lubrication fittings on the clamp and upper body assembly are releasably mated upon rotation of the clamp to the clamped position to provide lubrication from a single lubrication line to both the bearing assembly and seals via passageways formed in the outer body of the upper body assembly.

Abstract: Quick-action coupling for the elements of an extension tube used in ocean oil well drilling, comprising a female tubular element (3) and a male tubular element (4) of the rising column. When fitted into another, these form between them an annular groove (10) open in its upper part and limited in its lower part by an axial bearing surface made on the periphery of one of the tubular elements (3, 4), this having a dimension sufficient to allow the locking collar (13) to be introduced.

  • Patent number: 4648635
Abstract: The bayonet coupling is provided with a connecting ring having radial pins for engaging in grooves in a hollow member to provide a loose connection. In addition, a screw-threaded ring is threaded into the connecting ring to move against a shoulder on one hollow member in order to compress a resilient seal ring between the hollow members and thus provide a strong seal-tight connection.

  • Patent number: 4630847
Abstract: The present invention relates to a multiple tube connector (60). The multiple tube connector (60) includes two substantially identical first and second connector housings (62, 64). The first and second connector housings (62, 64) include an aperture (65) coaxially positioned therein. The aperture (65) includes a plurality of inwardly projecting, evenly spaced apart and substantially identical splines (88) defining key ways (90) therebetween. A locking spindle (66) is rotatably mounted in one of the first and second connector housings (62, 64). The locking spindle (66) includes evenly spaced apart, outwardly projecting and substantially identical splines (92) defining key ways (96) therebetween.

  • Patent number: 4524997
Abstract: A hose coupling for connecting lengths of fire hose is formed by coupling halves. Each coupling half includes a hose connection piece and a cam ring rotatable relative to the hose connection piece. The cam rings provide a bayonet-type locking engagement. The hose connection piece has two serially arranged axially extending sections each of different diameters. The larger diameter section receives and holds a length of the fire hose. A neck on the cam ring is rotatably attached to the smaller diameter section. The neck on the cam ring is held on the smaller diameter section against movement in the axial direction. A resilient back-springing holding ring is located adjacent the free end of a smaller diameter section in a recess in the section. The holding ring in combination with the free end of the smaller diameter section forms an annular space in which a sealing ring for the coupling is secured.

  • Patent number: 4330140
Abstract: A marine riser including a uniquely designed three element connection structure and associated connecting and releasing means for the inhibiting of fatigue failure caused by moments and axial loads resulting from relative motion between the fixed ocean bottom and a floating drilling platform or ship, such as a semisubmersible rig. The system includes a preloaded connection including a female member and a male member coaxially aligned and held in compression by a nut placed in tension. The connection holds riser pipe sections together. The connection is preloaded through a tool to a degree such that when a load equal to the yield strength of the pipe section material is applied to the pipe sections joined by the connector, the compressed faces of the male and female members do not separate from each other. The degree of preload would be sufficient to maintain the contact between the compressed faces under expected working loads of the pipe sections.

  • Patent number: 4261599
Abstract: A joint for connecting pipes embodying a first sleeve surrounding and bonded to the end of a first pipe and a bell surrounding and bonded to the end of a second pipe. The bell has an enlarged diameter bore terminating in an annular shoulder at its inner end with the bore being of a size to receive the first sleeve with the inner end of the first sleeve being movable to a position adjacent the shoulder. A second sleeve surrounds the first pipe adjacent the first sleeve within the bell and is adapted for rotative and axial movement relative to the first pipe. Cams within the bell cooperate with cams on the second sleeve to effect axial movement of the second sleeve in response to rotative movement of the second sleeve. Sealing means between the shoulder and the inner end of the first sleeve effects a seal therebetween upon axial movement of the first sleeve to a position with its inner end adjacent the shoulder.

Abstract: The connector includes first and second axially mating parts carrying interengageable contact members. A pair of spaced flexible locking arms axially extend from the first part. Each arm includes a body portion and a locking portion, the latter having a pair of laterally extending lobes. The second part has a pair of axially extending recesses terminating in a circumferential groove in which a sleeve is rotatably mounted. The sleeve has circumferential recesses each including a nesting section and a camming section. The sleeve is biased to normally align the nesting sections with the respective axially extending recesses. To lock the parts, the body portions of arms are received in the respective axially extending recesses with the locking portions thereof situated in the respective nesting sections such that radially extending shoulders at either side of the axially extending recesses engage the lobes.
