Abstract: FIG. 2A shows an alignment and sealing arrangement for connecting two non-gender opposed conduit parts (20) and (20'). Seal (22) is captured by two opposed seal protrusions (20C) and (20C') residing on conduit part's end. Bore (18A) of alignment element (18) closely receives opposed alignment protrusions located on conduit parts' end. The alignment protrusions are substantially referenced to their respective passageways. Axial force is applied to displace opposed conduit parts toward one another to cause seal protrusions to compress seal, drawing conduit parts' passageways (20E) and (20E') into an aligned relation, and reducing adjacent mating faces into approximate flush relation with one intersection (30). Abstract: An apparatus for fluidly coupling a flanged pipe (2) having an annular flange (4) to a threaded pipe (22) having an externally threaded end (20) with an annular lip is disclosed. An annular nut (8) has an internal thread (10) for engaging the threaded pipe. An internal diameter of the annular nut is larger than an external diameter of the flange of the flanged pipe. Thus, the annular nut can slide without deformation over the flange of the flanged pipe. The annular nut also acts as a retaining surface. An internal diameter of an annular insert (12) is smaller than the external diameter of the flange of the flanged pipe. Because of the difference in diameter, the annular insert cannot slide freely over the flange of the flange pipe. • Patent number: 5362109
Abstract: A quick disconnect forming a coupler for high pressure fluid lines that has a first hollow member attached to a second hollow member in fluid-tight relationship with an attachment collar having relatively coarse threads thereon for quick attachment and detachment of the first and second members. A cylindrical stop ring is threadedly attached to one of the members to form a second shoulder in spaced opposition to a first shoulder on one of the members such that the attachment collar can move axially only between the two shoulders. A resilient O-ring is formed in a recess on the second member and engages an annular recess on the attachment collar to resist movement of the attachment collar by vibration.

  • Patent number: 4676479
Abstract: A valve body containing a ball valve member and having a threaded portion on the outer surface of an end portion thereof is connected with a body cap having a flange integral therewith on the outside end, by screwing a cap nut having an annular rib on the inner surface of the outside end thereof on the threaded portion of the valve body. A split ring is inserted into the space between the body cap and the cap nut. The split ring consists of two divided ring elements. Each ring element is provided with a fitting projection to be fitted into an annular groove of the body cap, on the inner surface of the outside end, and a collar-like projection is provided on the outer surface of the inside end. Both ends of the inner surface of the fitting projection of the ring element are cut off at the corners. The body cap is connected with the valve body by pushing the annular rib of the cap nut against the collar-like projection of the split ring and screwing the cap nut onto the threaded portion of the valve body.

  • Patent number: 4653780
Abstract: An end fitting provides a coupling for a pair of parts which may be misaligned. One of the possibly misaligned parts is a nut having a bore therein. The other part is a ferrule fitting in the bore and, preferably having a lip seal thereon. A pair of confronting annular U-shaped slots are formed in the two parts, with a pin wire ring resting in the slots in order to join the two parts. The cross-sections of the two U-shaped slots are skewed with respect to a perpendicular to the bore, by an angle in the range of 6-degrees to 45-degrees, with the preferred angle being 15-degrees. The pin wire ring rides up and down the resulting tapered walls of the slots to compensate for any misalignment.
