Abstract: A bathtub drain connection system includes a first drain pipe configured to couple to a drain opening of a bathtub and a second drain pipe configured to mount to a floor structure. A drain connector is extends between the first drain pipe and the second drain pipe so that the first drain pipe and the second drain pipe are coupled in fluid communication. The drain connector is configured to allow the first drain pipe to be disposed offset relative to the second drain pipe and in a direction that is substantially parallel to a plane defined by the floor structure.

Abstract: A gasket for a bathroom fixture comprises a continuous, unitary ring composed of an elastomeric material having a generally U-shaped cross section defining a continuous groove with a width that corresponds to the thickness of the lower rim of the fixture. The article has an unstretched state, wherein the groove is smaller than the centerline of the fixture rim, and a stretched state, wherein the rim of the fixture is received by the groove, such that the gasket is positioned between the bottom surface of the rim and a floor surface when the fixture is installed. The continuous groove of the gasket may be configured to receive the lower rim of a toilet or a pedestal sink. The elastomeric material may a natural or synthetic rubber, in any color including white or clear. The gasket may include a battery operated controller and spaced apart lights.

Abstract: This disclosure provides a square closet flange support for overall support of closet flange and toilet bolts and to be used with new construction projects as well as in renovation projects to level, support and determine the final height of the closet flange and to prevent a need of cutting circular forms from floor tiles, hardwood or other floor covering. The square support has a seam that allows it to be snapped into two identical halves for use in renovation projects to enable sliding the support halves under the flange without a need to remove and reinstall an already installed flange.

Abstract: A flange apparatus operable to connect the discharge of a plumbing fixture to the waste drain pipe of a drainage system. In an embodiment, the flange apparatus includes a flange and a flexible sleeve disposed through a central opening of the flange, in which a first portion of the flexible sleeve is seated on the flange. The flange further includes arm portions, each having an aperture defined therethrough. The surfaces of the apertures are substantially smooth, and the apertures are operable to receive fasteners. In an embodiment, the arm portions may be made of threadable materials, and the fasteners may have thread-forming fasteners such that threads are formed in the arm portions when the thread-forming fastener is received in the aperture of the arm portions.

Abstract: A connector assembly for a flow restricting apparatus is disclosed. The flow restricting apparatus comprises an outlet configured to be in fluid communication with an outlet conduit. The connector assembly comprises a first member configured to be engaged with the flow restricting apparatus at least partially about the outlet. The first member comprises a first face, a second face, and a bore defined through the first member. The connector assembly comprises a second member comprising a first side, a second side, a bore defined through the second member, at least one projection extending outwardly from the first side of the second member, and sealing means for sealing positioned intermediate the first member and the second member. The at least one projection forms a receiving portion configured to receive a portion of the first member.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for installing an adjustable height drain onto a conduit in a layer of hardenable material. The drain includes a grate member adjustably connected to and in fluid communication with a base member. A connection member connects the grate member and base member and is adjustable to allow the elevation of the grate member to be adjusted in relation to the base member. A spacer is disposed substantially adjacent at least a portion of the connection member to limit hardenable material from setting around the connection member when a layer of hardenable material is poured.

Abstract: A method for installing a tub above a floor, in certain aspect, the floor having a plurality of spaced-apart supports beneath the floor supporting the floor, the tub to be installed on top of the floor, the tub having a drain hole for draining water from the tub, the floor having a hole to correspond in position to the drain hole of the tub, the method including securing a tub shoe beneath the tub at the drain hole, the tub shoe comprising an upright part with a fluid flow channel through the upright part in fluid communication with a fluid flow channel through a second part for draining water from the tub through the drain hole, positioning the upright part so that the second part can extend through an open portion of at least one of the plurality of spaced-apart supports supporting the floor, and connecting the second part in fluid communication with a primary drain line for receiving water from the tub.

Abstract: Presealed System device for walls, floors and roofs. The Presealed System device forms pre-selected openings in floors and walls and roofs in buildings and/or houses and/or during remodeling projects for allowing plumbing pipes and/or electrical conduits to pass therethrough. The devices include stacked or side by side PVC type sleeves with an inwardly protruding portion of a resilient member such as a t cross-sectional shaped washer separating the sleeves from one another. The resilient member also includes a rearwardly extending portion which extends into the walls and floors that can have ridges thereon, and additional portions which are adjacent to exterior sides of the sleeves. Pipes and conduits placed into the openings through the devices are sealed by the inwardly protruding portions of the resilient members and the seal is maintained during expansion and contraction of the boundary layer that occurs during daytime and nighttime temperature changes and heating and cooling conditions.

Abstract: A toilet mounting assembly for securely and easily mounting a toilet to a structure includes a sealing ring securable to a structure and having either integral threaded rods extending from a main body portion of the sealing ring or threaded rods easily and securely attached to the sealing ring using a tongue and groove. Alternately, the sealing ring may include threaded apertures for receiving specially structured bolts to secure the toilet to the sealing ring.

Abstract: A device for installing a toilet, having a rearwardly extending discharge pipe, on a floor opening, surrounded by a floor ring anchored in the floor and having upright threaded bolts configured to fasten a toilet having a downwardly extending discharge pipe, has a base having an underside configured to be placed onto the floor ring. A U-shaped pipe section having a first end and a second end is provided wherein the first end has a 90° bend section connected to the base. The second end has a diameter matched to a diameter of a rearwardly extending discharge pipe of a toilet to be installed. The 90° bend section has an end portion facing the floor ring, wherein the end portion has a diameter matched to a diameter of the floor ring. The base has securing elements secured to the floor indirectly by the floor ring, the threaded bolts, and the base.

Abstract: A floor flange apparatus for use with a plumbing fixture positioned on a floor surface includes a conduit section having a fixture end and a drain end and defining a bore therethrough. The conduit section is adapted to be coupled to a drain pipe proximate the drain end and to be coupled to a plumbing fixture proximate the fixture end for draining water from the plumbing fixture. A flange is positioned proximate the fixture end of the conduit, and the flange is configured to engage a plumbing fixture and couple the fixture to the conduit section. Elevation structures extend from the flange and are configured for interfacing with a floor surface to elevate the flange above the floor surface. At least a portion of the elevation structures are removably coupled with the flange for being selectively removed to allow the elevation of the flange to be selected.

Abstract: A thermoformed PVC, modified PVC, CPVC, metal or coated metal cover, covering system and method is provided for covering assemblies of pipe and pipe insulation, hangers, support rods and mechanical assemblies wherein the assembly is biocide treated, covered by and completely enclosed by the cover, the cover is sealed in order to prevent bacteria growth within the cover while allowing a smooth outside surface for biocide application. The cover can be modified to facilitate the application of biocide after the assembly is covered by providing resealable openings in said cover.

Abstract: An adjustable-length closet fastener (1) has a fastener shank (2, 32) with an anchor-ridge head (3, 33) which is sized and shaped for positioning side walls of the anchor-ridge head against walls (5) of a predetermined retainer cavity (6) to arrest rotation of the fastener shank and which is sized and shaped for positioning a fastener shank-side surface (9) of the anchor-ridge head against a ceiling (10) of the predetermined retainer cavity at opposite sides of a shaft orifice in the predetermined retainer cavity to prevent exit of the adjustable-length closet fastener from the predetermined retainer cavity. A length-adjustment sleeve (11) with internal machine threads (12) is attached to the fastener shank for extension a predetermined distance towards a predetermined fastening position (13). A length-adjustment bolt (16) with external machine threads (17) that match the internal machine threads of the length-adjustment sleeve is screwed a desired length-adjustment distance into the length-adjustment sleeve.

Abstract: A security document form such as a bank draft, or other document of value may incorporate a see-through and write-able hologram or diffractive grating as an anticounterfeit measure. The hologram may extend over all or a portion of the form such as the signature entry area and other data entry areas of the form, e.g. the date, name and numerical value areas. A Previous patent utilizing metallized holograms for such applications does not permit good photocopying or microfilming of the document on account of their high reflectance. This photocopying problem is solved by using a see-through, writable hologram which allows clearly legible photocopies to be made for legitimate use but appearing clearly fraudulent when passed off as the original. An ink-compatible top surface is made by coating with ink-receptive material or by corona discharge treatment as is well known in the industry.

In making the pipe connections, the linking pipe (8) is cut off in accordance with the distance between the flushing port (2) and the drainpipe (3) or pipe insertion overlap can be used to adjust the length of the linking pipe (8).

Abstract: The present invention includes a pattern of fine slits formed in the material of document where sensitive information is intended to be printed or imprinted, wherein the slit pattern modifies the tensile strength of the substrate. In addition, the slit pattern modifies the toner or ink permeability of a substrate to facilitate the penetration of the toner or ink printed or imprinted on the surface of document into the substrate. Further, the design of the slit pattern can be coordinated with a latent image pattern to comprise optical properties such that the physical response of a typical duplicating or photocopy device to the validation mark will allow a copy to be easily discerned from an original.

Abstract: An adjustable decorative base trim plate serves as a replacement foot pad for a toilet. The trim plate is positioned between the toilet and floor to provide an attractive, level cover over discrepancies in the flooring surface that can result from toilet replacement. The trim plate is in two pieces that have overlapping flange members and slide to expand and cover a variety of sizes of footprint. Optional cutouts in each piece permit the toilet flange to protrude through. Arcuate lines can be provided to suggest trim lines that can be cut to reposition the flange openings The trim plate is formed of a tough, durable sheet material stiff enough to press against the floor and any caulking material and to stay flat and thick enough to support the toilet.

Abstract: A closet flange for mounting a water closet and connecting the water closet to standard plumbing means leading to a soil pipe and vent assembly. The closet flange comprises a cylindrical body with upper and lower body portions and an axial bore. The upper body portion defines the entrance end of the body and supports an exterior annular attachment flange at the entrance end. The lower body portion defines the exit end of the body and is configured to connect with the standard plumbing means. The axial bore is provided with standard pipe threads for threaded engagement by a standard threaded screw plug to close the axial bore and seal the axial bore for air or water testing prior to installation of a water closet on the attachment flange.

Abstract: Toilet bowls made of porcelain are conventionally disposed directly on the floor and/or attached thereto through rigid connections. When the toilet is used, acoustic vibratons are therefore transmitted from the bowl to the floor and spread all over the dwelling. In the case of a multiple unit residential building, the acoustic vibrations even reach the surrounding residential units and disturb their occupants. To overcome this drawback, the acoustically insulating method proposes to insert a strip of rubber foam between the base of the bowl and the floor and to attach the toilet bowl to the floor through a pair of fasteners each including a rubber link, whereby no acoustic short circuit is established between the bowl and floor to thereby considerably reduce the transmission of acoustic vibrations to the floor.

The invention also includes a fixture and closet floor flange having key hole slots with optional base floor for holding closet bolts upright with the use of clips, and a fixture flange adaptable to additionally attach a tub box having projecting fasteners for attachment to either an adjustable fixture flange or nailed to a surface separately.

The base is formed generally in the shape of a flat rectangle having a height equal to the amount by which it is desired to elevate the toilet above a floor for use. A large aperture is formed through the base near the central portion thereof having appropriate plumbing fittings for connecting the bowl of the toilet to the drain. A first pair of smaller apertures are provided to permit the passage therethrough of appropriate threaded fasteners so as to secure the toilet to the floor. A second pair of apertures are formed through the sides of the base to permit appropriate side rails to be inserted therein for use. Each of the side rails includes an adjustable grip which can be positioned and secured in a desired manner so as to assist a person in getting on and off of the toilet seat.

Abstract: A floor drain includes a cylindrical drain body having external threads formed thereabout and an upper flange extending radially outwardly from the drain body and disposed flush with the floor surface. A threaded nut is secured about the drain body to engage the lower surface of the floor. The drain body includes a lower bore portion adapted to receive the upper end of a waste discharge pipe, the pipe being secured therein by adhesive or the like. A plurality of shoulder stops extend inwardly from the upper end of the lower bore portion to limit the upward position of the waste discharge pipe. The upper end surface of the waste discharge pipe is substantially exposed by the shoulder stops, so that a bead of sealant may be disposed at the junction of the upper end surface and the lower bore to seal the assembly.

Abstract: An improved method for extending a soil pipe flange to floor level by attaching thereto an improved extension device. An extension collar is positioned over a soil pipe flange on which a bead of mastic has been applied. The extension collar, which is made from a flexible material and has multiple attachment slots, is secured to the soil pipe flange by upward extending bolts, and bolt hardware. A wax ring is positioned above the extension collar at floor level. This extended flange facilitates attachment of a toilet fixture to the soil pipe. The method includes techniques for adding multiple extension collars and thus, if required, further extending the soil pipe flange.

Abstract: A protective cover or cap for connection to a toilet mounting flange installed on a drain or discharge pipe is described. The cover protects the stems of bolts for connecting the flange to the toilet by means of at least two tubular extensions on the cover which surround the bolts and by means of nuts over washers on the bolt stems when the cover is installed on the flange. The cover makes it much easier to align the flange visually with the surrounding walls by means of the tubular extensions for the bolts. In addition, the cover is adapted for hydrostatic testing of the drainage system, prevents any foreign material from entering the discharge pipe and protects the slots and holes in the flange from becoming clogged or filled.

Abstract: An improved device for securing a toilet to a soil pipe flange includes a flange fastening nut comprising a guide member and a retaining member connected by a shaft for slidably engaging a slot in the flange, the guide member being above the slot for guiding an opening in the base of the toilet into proper position over the fastening nut, the guide member including a tapped hole into which a bolt may be screwed from above the base of the toilet to secure the toilet to the flange. The invention may also be embodied in a soil pipe flange having a plurality of guide members each including a tapped hole fixedly attached to the upper surface of the flange in positions matching the openings in the base of the toilet.

Abstract: Apparatus for installing or replacing pipe which extends between a toilet and a ferrule structure projecting from a soil stack couples a discharge pipe to the ferrule structure with a compressible sleeve which extends over facing ends of the discharge pipe and ferrule. Ring clamps compress and seal the sleeve to the discharge pipe and ferrule structure. Ears project from a flange attached to one end of the discharge pipe at a floor which supports the toilet for supporting the discharge pipe from the floor.

Abstract: A drain for a prefabricated shower stall that can be quickly and easily connected to a drain pipe, even though the drain pipe might be off-center with respect to the shower drain opening. The drain consists of two interfitting parts, a first of which is a drain body designed for attachment to the shower stall, and the second of which is a bushing-like member designed to interconnect the drain body and drain pipe. The drain body has a round opening, with a converging wall, extending through it, and an outwardly extending flange by means of which it can be affixed to a prefabricated shower stall around the drain opening in the stall. The converging wall of the opening in the drain body serves as a seat for the second part of the drain, which has a frustoconical outer wall to make this possible. This second part has a cylindrical bore concentric with its outer wall and is of such size as to extend below the first part, when seated therein, and telescopically receive the drain pipe in its cylindrical bore.

A tank fixture is secured to the bowl fixture with the tank fixture proximate the wall for supplying water for flushing of the toilet bowl. The bowl fixture includes a bowl siphon communicating with the bowl and the siphon having a discharge opening is spacedly remote from the floor drain. The discharge opening is presented rearwardly of the bowl and toward the wall. Connected at one end of the siphon discharge opening is a discharge conduit arrangement for receiving the bowl discharge via the siphon.

Abstract: A waste drain connection for independently-supported plumbing fixtures including a pipe with two open ends and a pair or radially-extending arms having open portions therethrough secured to the outside of the pipe intermediate the open ends thereof. A receptacle mounted to the plumbing fixture drain outlet is adapted to receive a fluid sealing gasket. Mounted to the plumbing fixture about the receptacle are two, oppositely-disposed threaded studs. The studs are arranged to be alignable with the pair of open portions in the arms of the pipe. A pair of nuts threadably engaged over the ends of the studs following mating thereof with the open portioned arms to move one of the ends of the pipe into sealing engagement with the gasket. A standard no-hub connection is used to couple the other end of the pipe to the plumbing drain.

Abstract: A floor-mounted anchor unit for toilets comprising---in association with an upstanding sewer pipe riser set before placement of the floor---a horizontal annular toilet attachment flange on the floor adjacent and in register with such riser, a horizontal annular sub-flange surrounding the riser in spaced relation below the toilet attachment flange and engaged beneath a portion of the floor, and a plurality of vertical, circumferentially spaced screws connected in holding relation between said flanges radially outwardly of the riser; characterized by the toilet attachment flange being initially detached, and means including said screws temporarily assembled with the riser and supporting the sub-flange in position on said riser preparatory to placement of the floor thereabout and over the sub-flange, said means being removable at least in part and with the screws to then permit said connection of said screws between the toilet attachment flange and the sub-flange.

Abstract: A flange assembly for installing a toilet fixture comprised of a packer device having an upper mounting surface which receives the fixture in fixed relation thereto. A packer assembly underlies the mounting surface and enables the apparatus to be set about the marginal end of a soil pipe received through a concrete floor. Means are provided by which the packer device is easily expanded into engagement with the concrete floor and the soil pipe, leaving the upper mounting surface disposed at floor level.

Abstract: A system is provided herein which includes a closet flange insert and at least one spacer to be positioned between the closet flange insert and an installed closet flange. The closet flange insert includes a toilet connecting flange which extends radially outwardly from a through pipe. The through pipe is sized to be inserted into a pipe section of a closet flange. Each spacer includes spaced apart first and second faces, and spaced apart inner and outer edges extending between the first and second faces. The inner edge defines an opening extending through the body, the opening sized to permit passage therethrough of the through pipe of the closet flange insert but not the toilet connecting flange of the closet flange insert. With the subject invention, a system is provided which allows the closet flange insert to be mounted atop an installed closet flange flush with surrounding finished flooring.
