    Abstract: A modular tub spout assembly for use in removably attaching a tub spout on a threadless water pipe extending outwardly from a bath wall without affecting connection of the pipe to a water supply system behind the bath wall includes a tub spout insert, a sleeve and a seal member. The insert has an interior passage, at least a portion of which is of a size to provide a close, but sliding, fit on the pipe. The sleeve has an internal diameter providing a close, but sliding, fit on the pipe and there is a chamber in the insert formed and adapted to closely fit about the sleeve exterior. The seal member is also positioned within the chamber in the insert. A fastener extends within the aligned openings in the insert and sleeve to fix the insert on the pipe. There is a tub spout shell extending over and enclosing the insert and a fastener to attach the shell to the insert.

The extra length provided by a bibcock nozzle extension allows a user to easily make a hose connection to a manually difficult bibcock access to provide sufficient space to manipulate the operator's hands when connecting a garden hose to the bibcock extension without touching the wall or the bibcock handle.

The deformable buckling region forms a structural buffer between the first and second diameter portions in order to maintain the diameter of the first larger diameter portion when the second smaller diameter portion is stretched out by prolonged insertion of a nonconforming male adaptor. In addition, an adapter is provided which permits flexibility in use and provides a redundant fluid seal, without exhibiting creep.

    Abstract: A hose capable of carrying current to an indicator which provides external warning of imminent failure, or leak, due to wear occurring within the hose. The hose consists of an internal (primary) hose which is surrounded by an external (secondary) hose. Positioned in the annulus between the two hoses are two non-contacting electrical wires. At a point, the two electrical wires extend beyond and outside of the hoses. The protruding wires attach to a low voltage power source and to a hose failure indicator, or alarm, in series. When the internal (primary) hose fails, the fluid inside the hose escapes into the annulus between the primary and secondary hoses, making contact with the two electrical leads. This closes the circuit, thereby activating the external indicator, which may be a light or an audible signal or some other type of alarm. The external (secondary) hose is designed to withstand normal operating stress for a reasonable amount of operating hours until the hose can be replaced.

    Abstract: A water purifier includes a quick connect connector in a port that receives a tube that carries the water. The tube is received along the axis of the port in a first reference direction along the axis. The connector is assembled by inserting, in sequence, a support ring, an O-ring, and a plug into the port along the axis, but in a direction opposite the first direction. The plug is held in place by adhesive or conventional welding. To complete the assembly, a collet is inserted into the port along the axis and in the first direction. A tube is then connected to the water purifier by urging the tube through the collet, along the axis, and in the first direction. The tube is gripped by the collet, supported by the support ring, sealed by the O-ring, and stopped against the plug.

The support limits radial movement of the tube off the axis. The support has an L-shaped cross section having a radial leg that seats the O-ring, and an axial leg. Water purifiers are often installed in confined spaces near mechanical equipment. Conventional water purifiers installed with sharp bends in influent and effluent water tubes and exposed to equipment vibration conducted by the tubes often exhibit weeping at the port. In an embodiment of the present invention, weeping is eliminated by maintaining axial relation between the tube, the seal, and the collet.
