Patent number: 4708371Abstract: A manifold is provided surrounding the casing of a combustion chamber for a gas turbine engine, and the manifold is mounted in spaced aligned segments with couplings between the segments. Each coupling includes a removable tube connector extending between passageways forming the fuel line in the manifold. The tube connector is provided with a radial collar thereon, and a sleeve which is adapted to enclose the space between ends of respective manifold segments is also provided with a mating collar adapted to receive the radial collar on the tube connector. The sleeve is retractable over the ends of the manifold segments, and movement of the sleeve in one direction or the other will also move the tube connector by virtue of the interlocking collars. The manifold segments are provided with a second passageway for draining leaked fuel. The space defined by the sleeve is sealed, and fuel can communicate through to the second passageway for drainage outboard of the engine.Type: GrantFiled: April 9, 1986Date of Patent: November 24, 1987Assignee: Pratt & Whitney Canada Inc.Inventors: John K. Patent number: 4676531Abstract: For use with a pipe having an outer surface, a clamping structure is set forth. In the preferred and illustrated embodiment, the device utilizes a surrounding ring of solid construction having a central passage fitting over the pipe in question. An internal groove is formed in the ring. An encircling clamp means is placed in the groove which has an exposed or outer face confronting the pipe. The clamp means is fabricated with the outer face supported on a pair of spaced sidewalls which are corrugated along their length. On application of pressure to the interior of the ring, the corrugations are straightened, driving the outer face into the pipe and thereby clamping.Type: GrantFiled: April 15, 1985Date of Patent: June 30, 1987Inventor: Charles F. Patent number: 4676269Abstract: A socket assembly has a socket body into which a plug assembly is insertable to either a partially engaged position or a fully engaged position. When the plug assembly is in the fully engaged position, a seal engages a leading end of the plug assembly to block the leakage of fluid. When the plug assembly is in a partially engaged position, the leading end of the plug assembly is separate from the seal to enable fluid to be vented from the socket assembly. A plurality of locking elements are movable between a disengaged or release condition in which the locking elements are ineffective to hold the plug assembly in the socket assembly, a partially engaged condition in which the locking elements hold the plug assembly in its partially engaged position in which fluid can be vented from the socket assembly, and a fully engaged condition in which the locking elements hold the leading end of the plug assembly in engagement with the seal.Type: GrantFiled: March 7, 1986Date of Patent: June 30, 1987Assignee: Tuthill CorporationInventor: Charles R.
