Plow Or Cultivator Iron Making Patents (Class 29/14)
  • Patent number: 10827662
Abstract: A method of manufacturing an agricultural tillage disk blade includes providing a substantially circular-shaped disk body with an outer peripheral edge and a central opening that defines a rotation axis, the outer body being disposed within a first plane. A plurality of waves is formed in a predetermined pattern in the outer peripheral edge of the disk body, and the outer peripheral edge is sharpened to form a plurality of teeth such that at least a portion of the sharpened outer peripheral edge is disposed within a second plane that is parallel to the first plane and substantially perpendicular to the rotation axis. The method also includes machining a plurality of relief portions in each of the plurality of waves at a location radially inward of the plurality of teeth, and heat treating the disk body after the sharpening and machining steps.

  • Patent number: 6508147
Abstract: The present invention has several aspects to it, one of which is the provision of a chisel point which is straight and tapered from its thinnest part at the extreme front to a thicker part at the rear thereof for causing a sweep to wear longer than prior art sweeps. This sweep also improves soil penetration and is self-sharpening. Another aspect of the present invention is to provide an earth working sweep having a front end, a right side, a left side, and a central upper portion for connecting the sweep to an implement. It also has a right rear wing portion and a left rear wing portion with an intermediate portion connecting the front end to the central upper rear portion and the left and right rear wing portions. A right edge and a left edge have concave edges on the front and convex edges on the back so as to form a somewhat S-shaped configuration which reduces scrap when being made and adds to the longevity and performance of the sweep.

  • Patent number: 6119321
Abstract: A method of making earth tilling sweeps from disc scrap including a process of cutting a plurality of circular discs side-by-side to form disc cut-outs as well as discs. Each cut-out is formed around an axis which is perpendicular to the plane of the sheet of metal from which the discs are cut. The method herein includes leaving a predetermined width of material between the disc cut-outs and a predetermined width of metal between each respective disc cut-outs on at least one of the side edges. A sweep blank is made by cutting between and through the width of metal between the cut-outs and between the one edge and each one of two adjacent cut-outs. Further cutting of the sweep blank toward its final configuration includes forming attachment openings therein. The sweep blank is then bent into a three-dimensional shape for use in tilling the earth.

  • Patent number: 5752407
Abstract: A process for producing an agricultural sweep defining upper and lower major surfaces and having a predetermined shape including an earth engaging pointed head portion with a pair of wings symmetrically diverging rearwardly and generally horizontal from a nose region. Each wing has a bevel-like configuration on the upper surface of the sweep and an attachment portion integrally formed with and extending upwardly and rearwardly from the head portion. The unique process of the present invention begins with providing a planar preformed blank having a developed shape of the cultivator sweep. Thereafter, the blank is heated to an elevated temperature. The blank is thereafter loaded into a forming die set including first and second cooperatively arranged forming dies. One forming die is configured with a mirror image of one side of the cultivator sweep and the other forming die is configured with the opposite major side of the cultivator sweep.

  • Patent number: 5029585
Abstract: The present invention provides conformable intralumen electrodes for use with medical catheters. The electrodes are made of a conductive polymeric material that is introduced into the lumen of a catheter through an opening cut in the peripheral wall in the catheter. A conductive lead threaded through the lumen of the catheter terminates in a distal end at the opening in the catheter and is completely embedded within the polymeric material introduced into the opening, thereby establishing electrical contact between the conductive polymeric electrode and the conductive lead. The conductive polymeric material fills the opening adhering to the walls of the catheter tube, thereby ensuring secure, long lasting attachment.
