  • Patent number: 7832071
Abstract: A device for extracting a nozzle assembly of a fuel injection installation. The nozzle assembly is pressed into a cylinder head of an internal combustion engine, with a support pipe, with which the extraction device of the device is supported in the area surrounding the nozzle assembly on the valve cover during the extraction operation. To rule out deformations of the valve cover in case of strong tensile forces and extremely crowded space conditions, provisions are made according to the present invention for a divided support ring, which is formed from two ring sections, which can be placed individually on the valve cover in the area surrounding the nozzle assembly, to be able to be inserted between the support pipe of the extraction device and the surface of the valve cover.

Abstract: A bearing positioning tool set includes a grip having an inner end fixed with a combining rod with a combining hole. One or more positioning press blocks to be fitted with the grip are respectively formed with different diameters and bored with a central insert hole and respectively formed with a first fitting member, a first holding edge, a second fitting member and a second holding edge. A combining member is combined with the combining hole of a grip. By having the fitting member and the holding edge of the positioning press block respectively contacting closely with the inner wall and the upper edge of a bearing, hammering force can be applied evenly to position smoothly and quickly the bearing in the insert hole of an axle. Further, each positioning press block is formed with two different diameters for matching with different-sized bearings.

Abstract: A cam actuating clamp. The clamp has first and second jaws, with one of the jaws including a surface forming a fulcrum and the other one of the jaws including a projecting arm which contacts the fulcrum when the clamp is in an open position. The clamp is moved from a closed to an open position simply by the user grasping an actuating lever that is pivotally secured to one of the jaws and lifting the clamp, in which the weight of the jaws causes rotation of the jaws, relative to the actuating lever, into an open configuration. A pair of springs secured under tension between the jaws hold the jaws in the open position. The jaws are clamped over a work piece by the user moving the actuating lever into a second position. A camming surface on the actuating lever provides an over center action that enables the springs to both assist in opening the clamp as well as closing the clamp depending upon the position of the actuating lever.

  • Patent number: 6584662
Abstract: A tool for extracting a glow plug includes an externally threaded shaft, an internally threaded sleeve that engages the externally threaded shaft, and a fixed cavity formed in one end of the externally threaded shaft. The cavity has a side entry to permit the insertion of the glow plug into the cavity in a direction normal to the shaft, and a pair of opposing shoulders integrally formed in opposing sidewalls of the cavity to engage the glow plug. The sleeve threads down the shaft until it contacts the engine block. Rotating the sleeve exerts a pulling force on the shaft, which is transferred to the inserted glow plug by the opposing shoulders in the cavity. This pulls both the shaft and the inserted glow plug away from the engine block.

  • Patent number: 6539601
Abstract: A bearing press for removing or installing bearings or bushings. The press is an assembly of plates with apertures to enable a user to apply pressure upon a propeller strut with bearing for a propeller shaft in order to remove and replace or reinsert the bearing. The press is assembled about the shaft and does not require removal of the propeller shaft from the strut or the boat to remove a bearing. A user tightens bolts on both sides of the shaft which forces the old bearing out of the strut and into half cylinders which are spacers to allow the old bearing to be removed. The new bearing may be replaced at the same time the old is removed or another smaller pair of half cylinders may be used to only remove the bearing for examination.

Abstract: This invention is a specialized tool to insert bearing cups into wheel hubs on vehicles. Typically, conventional means to insert bearing cups would be to use a device that includes striking the bearing cup with a hammer or punch. Such an insertion could damage the wheel hub or the bearing cup. Other means exist utilizing complex, hard to use, mechanical devices. This invention is a simple, non-impact type bearing cup insertion tool utilizing a rod and specialized insertion elements. The insertion elements work along the rod to controllably force the bearing cups into the wheel hub safely without impacting the bearing cups.

  • Patent number: 6513217
Abstract: An apparatus for replacement of a starter cord in a small motor starter cord assembly. A spindle is mounted within a hub with a handle at one end and a tool fitting at the other end. The hub includes at least two arms. The arms attached to the hub are of a size to fit within a pull cord apparatus that is removed from a small motor and inverted. The arms extend to secure against the side of the pull cord apparatus. At the end of the spindle opposite a handle, a variety of tools can attach to the spindle to fit within or fit over the spring-mounted reel in a starter cord apparatus. The tool is placed within the starter cord apparatus. The arms extend to secure it in place. The tool is fitted to the reel and the handle rotated to wind the reel to a fully wound position so that a new starter cord can be threaded into the reel and tied off. The tool is then released to allow the spring to unwind hence, winding a replacement cord onto the reel.

Abstract: Tooling and process for installing a split type, circular snap ring into a slotted or grooved wrist pin journal of a piston utilizing an installation sleeve member with an internal bore therethrough which is positioned against the piston so that its bore is aligned with the piston's wrist pin journal. The bore in the installation sleeve including a tapered passage to progressively radially inwardly constrict the snap ring as it moves axially through the installation sleeve. An elongated plunger assembly is moved axially to engage the snap ring and move it through the bore of the installation sleeve. The plunger assembly is sized to permit it to move through the entire extent of the tapered portion and into the piston's journal so that in turn the snap ring is moved into the wrist pin journal and finally into alignment with a retainer slot or groove into which the snap ring can radially expand outwardly into a seated position.
