  • Patent number: 8978223
Abstract: An apparatus for curing cylindrical shaped elements having a liner, especially a liner of a rocket motor sleeve, where the cylindrical shaped elements are cured during rotation in a horizontal orientation. Horizontal rotation produces a liner with a substantially uniform thickness. The apparatus is mobile, compact, and has built-in robust safety mechanisms not compromised by the heat used to effect a cure. The cylindrical rollers are easily cleaned with minimal cross-contamination of one lot to another. Dripping of elastomeric materials from one assembly of rollers onto a stackable assembly of rollers below is eliminated. Each stackable assembly of rollers is independently controlled where each assembly is driven by its own motor, so rotation of one assemble does not affect another assembly of rollers.

  • Patent number: 8083276
Abstract: A small plastic tool is configured with a socket that may be screwed onto the end of a conventional broomstick, mop handle, paint roller extension pole, or other long pole to allow the tool to be raised to an elevated height while the user remains standing on the ground surface. The tool has a distal end formed with cruciform arms. A hook receiving slot is defined into the structure of a first mutually opposing pair of the cruciform arms, while a wider channel is defined through the other pair of cruciform arms. The hook receiving slot is configured to snugly receive the hook portion of a cup hook, which allows the cup hook to be raised to overhead, elevated, horizontal surfaces. The pole can then be rotated to screw the threaded shank of the cup hook into the overhead structure. The same tool can be used to cradle the twisted pair of wires of a string of lights in the channel defined in the distal end of the other pair of cruciform arms in the tool.

  • Patent number: 7243414
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for gripping and transferring a ring of electrical conductors in the form of pins which are used to produce a winding, such as a pin winding. The gripping device (C) is designed to seize the ring from a first element, such as a ring-forming element, and to transfer same into a second element (B), such as an element used to insert the ring into the member that supports the winding to be produced. The inventive device comprises a control cone (19) which can be moved axially inside a frame (13) for contact with levers (15) which are pivot mounted to the frame, such that the levers pivot when the cone is moved. The winding-production system is characterized in that it comprises an autonomous gripping and transfer device (C) which can be separated from the above-mentioned first and second elements (B) and which can be positioned on same in a pre-determined reference position. The invention can be used to produce a stator for an electrically-rotating machine.

  • Patent number: 6904655
Abstract: A helical drive system for seating and unseating a removable component, such as a printed circuit board, into a slot is described. The helical drive system includes a receptacle fixed to a housing proximate the slot. A handle and drive shaft are attached to the printed circuit board. The drive shaft has a helical groove that mates with a pin included in the receptacle. Rotation of the drive shaft pulls the printed circuit board into the slot and fully seats the printed circuit board. Rotation in the other direction unseats the printed circuit board. The helical groove has an enlarged entry that terminates in one or more points. This configuration facilitates the automatic alignment of the pin with the helical groove.

  • Patent number: 6481096
Abstract: Three-dimensional large scale bodies such as jumbo aircraft fuselages (14) are assembled in body sections around a central longitudinal assembly core (1) which itself is mounted at its ends and accessible all around along its length. Robots carrying tools for holding, transporting and precisely positioning pre-assembled wall shell sections, are movable along the central core (1). First, at least one floor grid (2 or 3) is releasably mounted to the core. Then, side wall shell sections (4, 5) are secured to the floor grids. Then, top and bottom wall shell sections (10, 8) are secured to the side wall shell sections (4, 5) to form a body section (BS) of the large scale body (14). Neighboring body sections are secured to each other along cross-seams. Upon completion, the floor grids are released from the core (1) and the core is removed preferably withdrawn longitudinally from the assembled large component or body.

  • Patent number: 6434809
Abstract: A kit for both removal of a camshaft from a cylinder block and for installation of a camshaft into a cylinder block includes a minimum of six unitary, molded plastic camshaft guides, an extraction tool, and a pilot to be attached to a rear face of the camshaft in order to provide additional support. Each camshaft guide has a generally C-shaped body and is constructed and arranged to fit onto a corresponding one of the camshaft lobes. Due to the “beyond center” configuration of each camshaft guide, a significant pulling force is required to remove each guide from its corresponding camshaft lobe. Each guide includes an internally-threaded hole which mates with a threaded end on the extraction tool and the extraction tool is used to manually pull each guide off of its corresponding lobe. The pilot includes a generally cylindrical body and a rod inserted therethrough having a threaded tip at one end and an enlarged head at the opposite end.
