  • Patent number: 8343794
Abstract: A method is provided for producing a hybrid multi junction photovoltaic device. The method begins by providing a plurality of planar photovoltaic semi-transparent modules. Each of the modules is a fully functional, thin-film, photovoltaic device and includes first and second conductive layers and at least first and second semiconductor layers disposed between the conductive layers. The first and second semiconductor layers define a junction at an interface therebetween. The method continues by disposing the modules one on top of another and hybridly adhering them to each other. At least one of the modules is configured to convert a first spectral portion of optical energy into an electrical voltage and transmit a second spectral portion of optical energy to another of the junctions that is configured to convert at least part of the second spectral portion of optical energy into an electrical voltage.

  • Patent number: 6931730
Abstract: A method of securing body panels to a space frame for a vehicle is disclosed. The body panels are secured to rivet nuts that are assembled to frame members. The location of the rivet nuts or rivet nuts supporting surface is measured and the rivet nuts are milled or machined to correspond to reference body coordinates. The milled rivet nuts function as a integral shim pack and obviate the need for shims between the space frame and body panels.

  • Patent number: 6662422
Abstract: A method for connecting a headrest guide tube in a vehicle seat frame comprises the steps of forming a hole in the seat frame, inserting a headrest guide tube into the hole, axially compressing the tube to form a pair of rings on opposite sides of the frame wall, and then axially crushing the rings to form a pair of beads tightly clamping the headrest guide tube to the seat frame. During the crushing process, a portion of the headrest guide tube is bulged into a notch in the hole in the seat frame to prevent the guide tube from rotating with respect to the seat frame.

  • Publication number: 20030121132
Abstract: An etch stop layer is formed over a surface of an interlayer insulating layer and over a surface of a conductive plug extending at a depth from the surface of the interlayer insulating layer. A lower mold layer is deposited over the etch stop layer, and a wet etch rate of the lower mold layer is adjusted by adding dopants to the lower mold layer during formation of the lower mold layer, and by annealing the lower mold layer. An upper mold layer is then deposited over the surface of the lower mold layer, such that a wet etch rate of the upper mold layer is less than the adjusted wet etch rate of the lower mold layer. The upper mold layer, the lower mold layer and the etch stop layer are then subjected to dry etching to form an opening therein which exposes at least a portion of the surface of the contact plug.

  • Patent number: 5655424
Abstract: In a plural-roll rolling mill having a pass line arranged by the respective sets of rolls, each having a caliber formed on the outside peripheral surface thereof, the outside peripheral surfaces being disposed close to each other, the calibers of the rolls being cut with a cutting tool of a three-dimensionally (forward and rearward, rightward and leftward and upward and downward) movable cutting machine. The rolling mill, which has a reference column disposed on the outside surface thereof at a position spaced apart from the pass line by a predetermined distance, is removed from a rolling line and fixed, and the positional alignment of the cutting tool is carried out by causing a contact sensor disposed on the cutting machine at a position spaced apart from the cutting tool by a predetermined distance to come into contact with the reference column. With this arrangement, there are provided a method and apparatus capable of cutting the rolls of the plural-roll rolling mill while mounted on the rolling mill.

  • Patent number: 4597143
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for reprofiling the wheels of a railroad wheelset by circumferentially milling the wheelset while the wheels are driven and partly supported by drive rollers, the wheelset being partly supported at its bearing housing. Before profile milling, a reference surface is created by a turning operation as base for measuring the radial infeed of the profile milling cutter. The turning tool required is disposed on the profile milling cutter which is lockable secure against rotation. By coordinating the position of the milling devices with the position of the respective turning devices a positional relation is automatically established between the milling device and the axis of the wheelset.
