The tool is mounted in fast-rotating precision spindles and the position of the tool may be adjusted to adjust the dimensions of the tip to be formed by the tool. The equipment is configured in a single-piece unit. A seat zone element for making the seat zone and preferably a cone element for making the cone of the tip may be formed on a base component.Type: GrantFiled: July 16, 2004Date of Patent: November 7, 2006Assignee: Societe BICInventors: David Schmitz, Anne Schmitz

Patent number: 7103973Abstract: A method for the manufacture of a toothed gear from a gear blank wherein the gear blank loaded into a machine tool and rotationally driven is machined by a hobbing cutter disposed on a rotationally driven tool shaft and the rough-hobbed gear, once produced, is subsequently cleared of burr by means of a rotationally driven deburring tool by causing it to chamfer the front-end edges of the inter-teeth grooves, wherein the number of revolutions of said deburring tool and rough-machined gear has a constant ratio, wherein the removal of burr is performed on said rough-machined gear invariably loaded on said machine tool in a continuous pass by using a deburring tool which is similar to a side milling cutter, has cutting teeth, and is fixedly disposed for rotation on the shaft of said hobbing cutter, wherein the front-end edges of the inter-teeth grooves are successively machined in the way of a gear hobbing process, and wherein said shaft is changed from the gear hobbing setting over to a burr removal setting.Type: GrantFiled: June 22, 2004Date of Patent: September 12, 2006Assignee: Fette GmbHInventors: Alfred Wolff, Siegfried Thiesies, Wolfgang Carmincke

Patent number: 7003867Abstract: A core includes a ring body and a plurality of teeth. The teeth extend radially outward form the outer circumference of the ring body. The core is formed by assembling a first core member and a second core member. Each core member has part of the teeth the number of which is half the total number of the teeth. Each tooth includes a tooth body about which the coil is wound, and a magnetism converging portion provided at the distal end of the tooth body. The tooth height of each tooth body gradually increases from a distal section to a proximal section of the tooth body. The tooth width gradually decreases from the distal section to the proximal section. The wire is wound about each of the teeth of the first and second core members. Then, the first and second core members are assembled to form the core. Accordingly, a rotor core having a high coil accommodation efficiency and a high coil space factor is obtained.Type: GrantFiled: October 15, 2003Date of Patent: February 28, 2006Assignee: Asmo Co., Ltd.Inventors: Toshio Yamamoto, Atsuo Okamoto, Takerou Totsuka, Akiyoshi Katou

Patent number: 6928707Abstract: One aspect of the invention is embodied in a machine for wrapping a heater wire around a cold cathode fluorescent lamp (CCFL). The machine includes means for holding a CCFL, means for guiding a heater wire, and means for moving the holding means in relation to the guiding means for the purpose of wrapping a heater wire around a CCFL that is held by the holding means. Another aspect of the invention is embodied in a CCFL wrapped with a heater wire. The process used to wrap the CCFL involves inserting the CCFL into a socket of an automated machine and feeding the heater wire into a heater wire guide of the automated machine. The socket is then moved in relation to the heater wire guide, by means of the automated machine, for the purpose of wrapping the heater wire around the CCFL.Type: GrantFiled: November 19, 2002Date of Patent: August 16, 2005Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.Inventors: Todd J Anderson, Nigel Meing-Fai Cheung

Patent number: 6915568Abstract: A streamlined method for the mass production of connecting rods is disclosed, with particular applicability for anticipated in the production of rods made from powdered metal materials. The method contemplates the rough grinding of a work piece, followed by the use of a single, flexibly tooled boring machine to create crank and pin bores. The work piece is then fracture split, subjected to a final grinding process and honed to specific tolerances without the need for final boring. The entire inventive process may be implemented on a five work station assembly line, thereby reducing the capital investment in machinery and space required by previously known methods.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 2003Date of Patent: July 12, 2005Assignee: Metaldyne Company LLCInventor: Michael Haehnel

Patent number: 6859988Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention is a compact, low-cost, lightweight, versatile and easy-to-operate, processor-controlled carving and multi-purpose shaping device (“PCCMPS machine”). The PCCMPS machine that represents one embodiment of the present invention is configured, in part, similarly to common, commercially available portable wood planers and ubiquitous laser and ink-jet computer printers, with work pieces fed into the PCCMPS machine in a horizontal direction. The PCCMPS machine includes a motor-powered cutting head that can power detachable bits to drill, cut, shape, and rout a work piece under processor and computer control. The cutting head may be translated, under processor control, back and forth across the surface of the work piece in a direction perpendicular to the direction in which the work piece is fed into the PCCMPS machine and moved by motor-powered rollers.Type: GrantFiled: July 25, 2002Date of Patent: March 1, 2005Assignee: LHR TechnologiesInventors: Christopher Scott Lovchik, James David Jochim, Dennis Girard Lawler

Patent number: 6839953Abstract: An apparatus is provided for manufacturing a gear component. The apparatus includes a plurality of tooling stocks movable relative to a base. The tooling stocks function to retain a component, as well as operably driving a combination hob/shaver tool and a combination chamfer/debut tool. The apparatus reduces the number of machines required to complete the gear component as well as reducing the cycle time for complete component manufacture. In this way, a more efficient manufacturing system is provided, whereby capital investment and operational costs are reduced.Type: GrantFiled: May 18, 2004Date of Patent: January 11, 2005Assignee: Magna Drivetrain of America, Inc.Inventors: Brian M.
