The stuck shell remover may include a press connector that is movable with respect to the clamp to permit proper alignment.

    Abstract: A tapping attachment for threading a relatively large number of holes through a sheet metal part at a relatively low cost per hole. The tapping attachment includes a thrust bearing assembly which is aligned with a turret-type punch press or the like and movable in response to an axially directed force generated by the punch press. This permits one and the same tool to be employed for pre-cutting various polygon profiles of any standard nominal size in a rational manner and with close approach to the final profile shape. The cutting speed is increased by providing a disk-shaped counterweight (21) with adjustable eccentricity located on the tool spindle adjacent the tool. A common adjustment means (18, 24 to 27) is effective to automatically adjust the eccentricity of the counterweight in correspondence to the respective eccentricity of the tool.

The machine tool attachment mechanically advances material to be machined through a tubular tail stock and into a head stock. Once machining is completed, the material between the head stock and tail stock is further clamped by the attachment and then cut by the machine tool. Remaining material can then be advanced by the attachment and the process repeated. The machine tool attachment interfaces with a numerically controlled machining center which transmits signals to control the functions of the attachment for proper coordination with the machine tool.

    Abstract: The ram of a vertical milling machine is raised up from the machine base and then secured thereto in a raised position to accommodate a workpiece having a vertical dimension that is greater than the normal vertical clearance between the tool spindle on the ram and the work support table below the spindle. The method involves removing the bolts which mount the ram on the base, threading long guide screws into these bolt holes and supporting an inverted U-shaped bracket on nuts threaded on the guide screws such that the bracket is disposed in an elevated position above the ram. A lift screw is then extended downwardly through the bight portion of the bracket and is threaded into the conventional threaded eye bolt opening on the top side of the ram. Thereafter, a nut is threaded down on the lift screw against the top side of the bight section of the bracket and continued rotation of the nut causes the lift screw to be displaced upwardly to raise the ram as it is guided by the guide screws.

    Abstract: A device for undercutting a rotating workpiece is provided wherein the tool carried by the toolholder is actuated into and out of engagement with the workpiece at predetermined feed locations. A base forms the mounting for the undercutter attachment with the toolholder being pivotally mounted on said base. The tool is moved axially in one direction along the workpiece to provide cutting. When the end of the travel has been reached, the tool moves in the opposite or return direction and the tool is automatically disengaged prior to reaching the start of the undercut portion. The actuator for the tool includes a pivoted arm and stationary trip cam on the machine tool. A positive latch holds the tool in the cutting position and a release trigger engages the trip cam to release the latch during the return feed at the proper position. The latch comprises a biased pin and the pivotal toolholder is biased by a spring activated cylinder.
