  • Patent number: 8782864
Abstract: A system for preparing a pre-assembled hanger support. The system includes a bending tool operable to form a bight in the distal end of a structural wire, the bight having a transverse tail extending away from the shaft of the structural wire. The system also includes a wrapping tool having a drive rotor with a clip attachment interface that removably supports a hanger clip and provides selective rotation of the hanger clip and the structural wire, a wire support brace that supports the shaft of the structural wire in substantial alignment with the axis of rotation of the drive rotor, and a tail stop positioned to restrain the rotation of the transverse tail.

  • Patent number: 8344891
Abstract: A security hard tag, uses an attachment clip to couple to an article, such as but not limited to clothing, to be protected and which can only be released from the article by use of an authorized detacher that is inserted into the security hard tag. The attachment clip may include various types of locking mechanisms on its two ends, one end which is permanently secured within the security hard tag housing and the other end which is releasably secured within the housing. Before being releasably secured within the housing, the one end is inserted through or around a portion of an article, or through a security tag loop attached to the article, and then that end is locked into the housing. The detacher uses a cam, either located on the detacher itself or positioned within the security hard tag housing, to interact with the one end of the attachment clip to release the locked end.

  • Patent number: 8205474
Abstract: Apparatus and method of controlling strip geometry in casting strip having a rolling mill. A target thickness profile is calculated as a function of the measured entry thickness profile of the strip while satisfying profile and flatness parameters. A differential strain feedback from longitudinal strain in the strip is calculated by a control system by comparing the exit thickness profile with the target thickness profile, and a control signal is generated to control a device capable of affecting the geometry of the strip processed by the hot rolling mill. A feed-forward control reference and/or sensitivity vector may also be calculated as a function of the target thickness profile, and used in generating the control signal sent to the control device. The control device may be selected from one or more of the group consisting of a bending controller, gap controller and coolant controller.

  • Patent number: 8122576
Abstract: The system has special application in the manufacture of aircraft wing covers (10 made of carbon fiber and the stringers (3) cured jointly with the wing cover during the polymerization in autoclave. The tool pieces (4) being used are defined by angular elements (5, 6) copying the geometry of the stringers (3). The shape of these stringers corresponds to the “T” section. The angular elements (5, 6) comprise, in their upper part, a pair of battlements (7) in order to be caught by part of the clamps (9) of a head (10) linked to a robot (11) of the spherical type with articulated arm with six axes. The angular elements (5, 6) are made of INVAR material and they are used to keep in position the stringers during the curing cycle in the autoclave.

Abstract: A tree balling system automates the current tree balling method and greatly reduces strenuous physical labor. A novel wire basket having projections with hooks is provided for securing the earth ball of a plant for transplantation. Wrapping and tensioning a tensile member around these hooks encloses the projections around the earth ball. A balling station is also disclosed which has a stand for supporting and rotating the wire basket and plant. The balling station includes a tensile member guide and a tensioning component. The balling station is preferably located on a transportable vehicle and is equipped with unloading features for discharging the wrapped earth ball. A powered tensioning device tightens the wire basket around the earth ball. A hook forming device is also disclosed wherein the hook forming device can modify conventional wire baskets.

  • Patent number: 6692542
Abstract: A separator is inserted into a slit formed in a winding core. A negative electrode plate made of thin metallic foil is fed toward the winding core as being held around the circumferential surface of a tape suction drum that is rotatably supported. The tape suction drum and the winding core are brought in mutual contact under pressure with their respective axes in parallel, and the winding core is driven to rotate, so that the tape suction drum is synchronously rotated with the winding core, by means of the frictional force acting between them, whereby the negative electrode plate held on the tape suction drum is wound onto the winding core together with the separator.

  • Patent number: 6662417
Abstract: A method of constructing a swivel hook. The method comprises the steps of: forming a hook body by way of a stamping process; forming a swivel connector by means of a forging process; placing a first washer having a rectangular shaped right angled bore over a rectangular stem on the hook body; inserting the rectangular stem of the hook body through a circular bore in a first end of the swivel connector; placing a second washer having a generally rectangular shaped right angled bore over the rectangular stem of the hook body and into abutment with the swivel connector such that the end of the stem extends through the second washer; and, thereafter, peening the tip of the rectangular stem extending through the second washer to secure the second washer in place over the rectangular stem.

  • Patent number: 5761798
Abstract: A system and a method for mounting electronic components on a printed circuit board are disclosed. The system comprises a component supporting stage, a board bearing stage, mounting heads, vacuum bits, pressure sensors, device for computing thresholds, and device for determining the status of the pick-up operation of the vacuum bits. The method comprises the steps of detecting a first pressure value of a vacuum bit at which the vacuum bit is open and a second pressure value of the vacuum bit at which the vacuum bit is closed, computing a threshold value in response to the detected first and second pressure values, and moving the mounting heads to the board bearing stage in response to a determination that the pressure value of the vacuum bit at which the component is picked up exceeds the threshold values.

  • Patent number: 3983737
Abstract: Method of manufacturing a suspension bolt, the bent part of which has a bending strength corresponding to the tensile strength of the shank of the bolt, using commercial round iron and making the bolt from one single round work piece. In a first step the round work piece is cold bent to form an end for the hook part in the shape of a closed, oval ring, the largest part of which extends laterally to the longitudinal direction of the shank. In a second step the material of said ring is pressed or rolled, also by cold working, perpendicularly to the plane of the ring and up to the straight part of the shank, so that the section of the work piece in the pressed part becomes almost rectangular. In a third step the end of the ring is skewed laterally perpendicularly to the plane of the ring, so as to form an opening sufficient for engaging the line, the chain or any other attachment means intended to carry the loading.
