Prior to attachment to the window screen, a portion of the window screen is cut away to expose a viewing area. The device is then positioned over the viewing area. A cap can be placed on the device when not in use. Preferably, a kit is provided including instructions, a template for cutting away a portion of the window screen at a desired location, and the viewing device.
